In a critique of the Democratic field, he said of Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," he told the New York Observer, a weekly. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."
Then Biden says today:
"He understood exactly what I meant, and I have no doubt that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and every other black leader will know exactly what I meant," Mr. Biden said.
Okay, well then what the hell did you mean?
You meant that all the blacks that have ran for President have been too dark a skin color and talked too ghetto. You meant that Obama is light skinned enough and sounds white enough to win election? Tell me how that is not EXACTLY what he meant.
See, here is the problem. He can just blow this off and get away with it. If a Republican said this he would be shot in the head. And why can't we debate what he said? Why is it when the race card comes out no discussion is allowed?
I'm not saying what is said is correct, I'm saying he has an opinion and probably one that many others think...so why not honestly talk about it?

Joe Biden would never make a racist comment about blacks, or Indians working at 7-11. Unlike Republicans, I know he *cares* about the common good, so it can't be true! /s
Why don't Democrats get the Macaca treatment from the liberal media?
I will not throw around the race card...I have no idea if he is a racist.
The point jason makes is what is important. Liberals can make comments like that because we know they care about minorities..
When Republicans say it, they are racists...this is a fact, been proven over and over
