Here is the actual data if you want to look. I know it is not emotional, touchy feely stuff that liberals like, this is the facts...this is what your environmental savior actually does. It shows what hypocrites liberals are....They are smart enough to tell eveyrone else what to do, just too good to do it themselves. I saw some pathetic loser crying at the Oscars when this ass was talking....

Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES). In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home. The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average. Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359. Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006. Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year. “As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson. In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

I read this article and have to laugh. These guys are the same regardless of the country they live in.
Up here in Canada we have Dr. David Suzuki aka Cpt. Kyoto currently making his way across Canada in a 30-day mega adventure lecturing us all on the evils of greenhouse gas emissions. Problem is the hypocrite is traveling across the country in a diesel-sucking-carbon spewing tour bus which will release more toxins in the air during his month long trip then the average Canadian will in a year. When asked by a journalist why he didn't opt for a biodiesel bus he replied it would have voided the warranty! We're all to inconvenience ourselves except for him. Then he rationalizes the decision by stating at the end of the trip he will calculate the amount of contaminants spewed in the air by his bus, put a dollar figure on it then invest a corresponding amount in green technologies. Presto! No net emissions! Gotta love these guys.
Why do you continue to post unadulterated bullshit from Drudge? This story has been totally debunked.
1) Gore’s family has taken numerous steps to reduce the carbon footprint of their private residence, including signing up for 100 percent green power through Green Power Switch, installing solar panels, and using compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy saving technology.
2) Gore has had a consistent position of purchasing carbon offsets to offset the family’s carbon footprint — a concept the right-wing fails to understand. Gore’s office explains:
What Mr. Gore has asked is that every family calculate their carbon footprint and try to reduce it as much as possible. Once they have done so, he then advocates that they purchase offsets, as the Gore’s do, to bring their footprint down to zero.
You won't understand the purchasing offsets of course but the Fortune 100 company I work for does and purchases them.
Keep trying to paint Gore as a hypocrite. You've got nothing but bullshit.
What's an offset?
Do you understand how stupid you and the other liberals sound..I have been reading up on this bullshit action of "buying" carbon offsets...the story is 100% accurate, you can't handle the truth!!!!
And Jim, where is your link for what you wrote...I saw that same bullshit moron answer all over the web today, exact words...
The reason you read it all over the web is that it is a quote from a spokesperson for Gore. My particular source is thinkprogress.org.
My guess is that your household uses 20x the energy of the average hillbilly household. Just guessing; can't prove it. If you were a very wealthy person and had two home offices and lived in a mansion, you would also use 20x the national household average.
However, Gore works to be as energy efficient as possible. What energy footprint he still has, he offsets by purchasing an equivalent amount of energy produced by green, renewable sources.
I could report that George W. Bush spends a significant amount of his waking day taking a dump, and that would be totally accurate, while being meaningless and quite misleading.
I'm beginning to think that the reason you all hate Al Gore so much is that deep down in your hearts you know he won the 2000 election, should have been president, and would never have gotten us into the awful mess that Bush has gotten us into. I think it's Freudian self-loathing.
pass the Kool-aid please.
Jim, I have never done drugs, but whatever you are smoking must be the greatest shit ever...please give me some...
Step back Jim and see how stupid this is...
The POINT we make is Gore runs around and tells everyone how to live, yet he does not live that way himself..HE DOES NOT.
The energy is being used...it doesn't matter how many trees he buys or how he covers his carbon foot prints...the energy is used...period...
So fucking what? He is supposed to live in a 1700 ft 3BR home and drive a suburban? The truth is, he lives exactly how he preaches.
There is no kool-ade and there is no story. You simply have a Fruedian need to rag on Al Gore.
Well, there you have it – the ranks of the zombies doth increase daily. I love the "hear no evil, see no evil" defense of Gore.
no blamin...he is buying his way out of his energy use
So it would be perfectly ok to murder someone, as long as I get knocked up afterward? Just checking...;)
Jim is just excusing the usual Liberal "do as I say, not as I do" behavior.
Jim, If Gore is advocating for everyone else to live like the Unabomber did in Montana, then not only is he a hypocrite to be ridiculed, but you are proving your lemming like stupidity.
Oh, yeah, thinkprogress, that Clintonoid propaganda tank. That is really objective, Jim, you Democrat hack.
"The truth is, he lives exactly how he preaches."
No, Gore, because of his mansion, is a hypocrite. Now George Bush, his ranch in Crawford is equipped with geo-thermal heating and solar panels. But like Bush's environmental achievements that are ignored by the media, environmentalist wackos won't let the facts get in the way of their Marxist jihad.
Like Leonardo Di Caprio, Michael Moore and so forth, liberals are in a state of grace for their good intentions and cannot be judged.
well done everyone, this is a no-brainer
What an apt characterization of the subject!
kWhat Jim doesn't want you all to know is that Gore buys his "carbon offsets" from a group Gore founded and sits on the board.
Also, Gore is a big energy waster. It doesn't matter the source of the energy. Gore is an energy hog.
Jim, you are nothing but pure manure.
From David Roberts:
"Having finally gotten the memo that the debate on climate change science is over, conservatives [and you wingnuts] now need a new attack on green advocates. It appears they're reverting to an old standby: hypocrisy...
"Al Gore works hard to mitigate his impact on the climate. Gore purchases offsets to account for the carbon emissions of all his air travel, just as he did for his movie and his book. He purchases green power for his home, drives a hybrid, and flies commercial when possible...
"Nobody -- least of all Al Gore -- would claim that it's possible in today's world to be a high-profile issue advocate without negatively affecting the environment. It's scarcely possible to be a functioning citizen of a developed country without having a substantial environmental footprint...
"The primary message of the green movement is not that everyone should become monks. The primary message is that we need to change the system -- the laws and physical infrastructure that underpin our collective life. We need a new industrial revolution that makes eco-friendly living the default choice, the one that requires little thought, much less heroics."
Okay, that was worthless crap...
I just farted, better go plant a tree...
Jim, you're still not getting it. To quote from this thread:
What energy footprint he still has, he offsets by purchasing an equivalent amount of energy produced by green, renewable sources.
The FUCKING POINT is that THEY USE SHIT THAT HARMS THE ENVIRONMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE, IN ORDER TO HAVE A FOOTPRINT.
Good god. Energy efficient, when he's using 20x the average household or possibly more?????
Give me a break. I don't give a damn what he puts it back into, the point is that HE IS HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT DOING IT.
Get a grip.
THE FOOTPRINT SYSTEM ITSELF IS BULLSHIT, BECAUSE IT STILL ALLOWS PEOPLE TO HARM THE ENVIRONMENT, and a lot of them being like Al Gore, more than the average human being on the streets!!!
This makes it right for him to do??? I don't think so.
