Good news. Hope it continues. Personally I don’t want to see any of our soldiers getting killed patrolling the streets or trying to control shia-sunni mad fight. Let Iraqis do it.
Pulling out from Iraq would be a mistake. We need our military in Iraq to shut down any terrorist activities.
Vittal, you make no sense. You are like Murtha who wants to redeploy to Okinawa.
Once the troops are out of the fight, the Democrats are going to declare defeat, celebrate the defeat, and go back to crapping on the Military and devastating the Defense budget.
As in the Special Prosecutor investigations, the Democrats know once there is a time limit, the object knows just to start counting days until they get out from under. It worked for the Clintons, and will work for Al Qaeda.
My solution would be to get the women and children out of terrist strongholds like Sadr City and then flatten it with B52 raids.
After that campaign, tell Iran if you want the same, keep making bombs.
PCD,
What are you smoking? Read my comments carefully and ask if you are not clear. Don’t assume anything like a moron.
When did I say we should ‘redeploy’ our troops? When did I say we should pull out of Iraq? How do you know that my plans are like Murtha’s plan?
Don’t try to put words in my mouth. It shows your ignorance!
Let me repeat again – Pulling out of Iraq would be a clear mistake. We need to have a strong military presence so we can shut down any terrorist activities. However, we don’t have to send our brave boys to do the street patrolling to be blown up by IEDs. Iraqi troops and police can do this job. We should train them faster so they can take up this work.
And your solution of B52 raids on Sadr city? Must be listening to Michael Savage a lot, uh? It sounds more like Saddam Hussain’s plan! You think war is like a video game. Don’t you? Huh?
I read to today that the administration whom you believe would NEVER abuse the provisions of the Patriot Act has admitted that they have been abusing the provisions of the Patriot Act.
Jim--
Who is this "they" person?
If a Democrat was in charge, the administration would need the same tools provided by the Patriot Act to combat revolutionary Islamist activity on our own soil. The problem isn't with the Patriot Act, it is that some people think they are Jack Bauer and aren't following the law.
According to an article from AP I'm reading, the "FBI found he FBI identified 26 possible violations in its use of the letters, including failing to get proper authorization, making improper requests under the law and unauthorized collection of telephone or Internet e-mail records."
Given the Democrats' previous behavior, from filegate to Sandy Burglar, I doubt they will be as frank and diligent about such matters.
Yeah, right!
burger did stuff documents in his underpants...and this is the problem of the patriot act...bad people can use it for evil...just like anything else...but we don't have liberals saying we should get rid of the internet, do we???
The internet is used for good and evil...
Giuliani showed how stupid the Democrat position was a few days ago at CPAC. Giuliani described when he cracked down on the Five Families, no one ever walked into the office and said, "Um, I would like to tell you what the Gambino Family is up to." One has to do the surveillance and interrogation work necessary to stop evil people.
Democrats think they can get evil people to be nice by taking away the tools required to maintain our security. It is as if San Fran Nan and other people in the Mommy Party sharing their feelings with evil people will be enough to make them play nice.
What a bunch of horse manure!
Yes Jim, liberal philosophy and outlook on life is crap
Oh I'm ROTFL.
Jim,
"Oh I'm ROTFL"
I hope you have a large supply of paper towels, you're going to need them, "it" is mighty "deep" from where you're coming from.
vittal,
I don't listen to Savage.
As to my opinion, it is the same as the day we entered Iraq. You can't be a peaceful Iraqi, you die. End of discussion.
As for your initial comments, If we aren't there patrolling the streets, what do the troops do? Do they sit in camps and be concentrated targets for Iranian backed terrorists?
PCD,
Troops do what they are supposed to do – fight the enemy. It doesn’t mean that you send them to patrol the streets where they become sitting ducks for enemy fire and IEDs! It’s more than 3 years and it’s time for Iraqis to do the street patrolling. Let Iraqis patrol the streets and fight the insurgents. In cases where they can’t handle the situation, let’s send our airpower and troops.
Even today, thousands of soldiers sit in camps when they are not patrolling – Are they all dead by Iranian backed insurgents? Most of these attacks are taking place on the streets, not on the military camps!!
