Finally, the liberals get something correct...how many years will it take for American liberals to get it right. Maybe they won't because their "global warming" crusade is more about attacking American companies. We can't drill in the middle of nowhere, we can't drill in the water, we can't drill on the land...liberals are weakening this country daily.
Nuclear power is the common sense, obvious answer to solving some of the worlds energy problems...

SOME drilling...LOTS of nuclear power plants...
Right now, NO drilling, NO new power plants
They can buy all the oil they want on the open market, just like we do. But their gas is highly taxed which reduces demand for oil and increases demand for other types of cleaner energy. What a concept!

Just wanted to make clear that Jim, as do all democrats and liberals, wants to increase taxes and make gas more expensive. Its fine that is what he thinks, I just wanted to make sure it was made clear because it is something a vast majority of the American people are against and when conservatives call liberals on it they lie and say they are not for that...
I don't like paying high prices for gasoline. But I do believe that there are sacrifices to be made for the greater good, like:
Cleaner air
Less dependence on foreign oil
Investments in our own economy
Don't give THEM our money, keep it here
Alternative energy sources
If paying higher prices gets us the above, maybe it's worth it.
Or maybe it's every man for himself, huh? Drill it, buy it and burn it now and screw the future. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Look how you go to extremes to make your point...making your point crap.
You CAN look for alternative sources of fuel right now if you want...and companies are doing that right now...
But because environmentalist have caused us to become dependant on foreign oil, that makes this country weaker and at the mercy of Arab and South American nations.
It is against human nautre to want to weaken your country and make you less safe, which is what making us dependant on the middle east for anything.
We should be able to drill in the gulf, drill in the middle of nowhere in Alaska, build new refineries, and new nuclear plants...
That keeps us much, much closer not needing other countries to give us our oil...

You are neglecting that the Democrats made extreme enviro-wackoism part of their platform for years and the legislation they produced from when Gaylord Nelson was still in the US Senate until now reflects hysteria, not pragmatism. Jim is just being a partisan protecting anything and everything Democrat rather than really thinking his positiona and answers through.

Uh, tell that to Royal Dutch Shell and BP and those working on the drilling platforms in the North Sea. Tell that to Norway.
