This weeks failed liberal idea

It is so easy to come up with liberal thoughts and ideas that have hurt this country so very badly. I thought I would take the time to go over one of them...and really, every single liberal thought is bad for the human race, sometimes it takes time to develop.

De-segregation of schools.
In the late 1960's and throughout the 1970's liberal professors and educators believed that the reason black students were doing so poorly in school was that they did not go to school with white students. If only they sat next to a white student, then they could learn better.
So our government forced blacks to get on buses for hours a day and go to a different part of town, and forced whites to get on buses and go to school with white students.
Liberals change their mind on how to "save" urban education. Once one policy does nothing, they do something completely different that fails. Right now, the failed idea is "small schools" It is a failure in EVERY SINGLE school, and it is ruining the small amount of successful programs left in MPS.

The result, test scores for blacks are as low as ever and all the white moved to the suburbs.
So there you have it, another failed liberal idea.
It can be a fun game. Pick any liberal thought that the government has actually acted on, and see how harmful it was to the people they wanted to help.

OK, your turn. What's the solution?

And the idea is self-serving too. Administrators get more power by creating more bureaucracy by doing so. The smaller class size myth is another way the unions try to expand their power.

Jim--

The conservative solution is to not have solutions, and give the power back to parents and localities. Conservatives want an education system that is dynamic, diverse, decentralized, and ultimately competitive. Some Republicans like Giuliani understand this, some like Bush do not.

back when there were white and blacks still living in the city, the solution was neighborhood schools and conservative black leaders. but with all the white people forced to move away due to liberal communism, property values are lower, meaning less money for schools.
I have said many, many times the only thing that can fix 40 years of failed liberalism...
two generations of constant speaches and outreach of conservative ideas. Obama did it a few weeks ago. It will take a long time, the inner city is just as bad as a third world country...
But every time a liberal idea gets put into place, you are guaranteed things will get worse...
There I have shown how liberals hurt blacks and entire cities, and offered some type of solution.
Liberals, you have to admit you have failed atleast on this issue unless you can show how busing blacks all over the city and causing whites to leave was a good thing.

"...and really, every single liberal thought is bad for the human race" - I find it little extreme and incorrect.

However, I agree with you on this issue on education. Students will do better only when they have a good supervision at home and good environment at school.

I have to agree with you; I was always fond of the bra-burning movement. But I'm hard pressed to think of another.

Do you have any idea how heritical that sounds to a Lib? What else is the purpose of gov't? Why, if they're not there to tell us how to eatsleepdrinkthink what the hell are they good for?

BTW, Game,

since when did it matter that a socialist idea failed? Don't you know - the results don't matter, only the intention.

It's misleading to say that current problems in education are the result of busing and integration when, in fact, schools are more segregated today than at any time in the last 40 years. A black student is overwhelmingly more likely to attend school with mostly other black students than with white students, hands-down. Read Kozol's last book--we have no idea what desegregation might have been able to accomplish since desegregation has evaporated. (And the Supreme Court seems determined to eliminate it even in cases where everyone in a district seems to want it to continue!)

And the small schools in MPS are generally failures, but you can't say that they all are. There is a certain kind that does well--opened by parents and teachers to fill a niche--and a kind that does poorly--forced multiplexing by top-down management. I'm working on that story for April's Bay View Compass.

The Game said...

make sure you ad that Bay View is losing 300 students and 1 million dollars next year to try and force kids to go to these small failing schools

The Game said...

and I'll agree that some charter schools that have parents involved and stritch admin's are doing okay...every single multiplex is a complete failure...and our stupid super keeps turning more and more schools into multiplex schools

Most leftists refuse to even consider the possibility that their policies can create the opposite result of their good intentions.

Since liberals "care," anytime one of their goofy proposals screws up things, from Ted Kennedy's 1973 HMO Act to Gray Davis fixing the price of electricity in California, it *must* be the result of greed, racism, xenophobia, or some other demon. If we would only give more offerings to the State, then by the grace of our moral purity, socialist programs would actually work.

This is really how leftists think, and you're a good example of one.

Blamin,

Bra-burning, uh? That's the best you can think of?
