Inner city public schools: The teacher, the social worker, the parent, the cook

MPS superintendent flat out told it like it is in today's paper. MPS has to fire teachers so that we can have more social workers, more nurses and more free food.

"Critics will say that the School District's responsibility is to educate children, and not to feed them or to meet their basic health care needs," the budget summary says.

"Those critics are correct. In a perfect world, the Milwaukee Public Schools would not need to serve children breakfast. In a perfect world, children would not come to school hungry or ill, but in real-world Milwaukee, they do. If the School District doesn't provide these services, who will?"

Again, if people would be responsible and take care of their own, things would be much better. The superintendent was so close to coming right out and blaming the parents, but he didn't. Instead of giving everything to losers who KNOW the govt will take care of them, we need to convey the message that we EXPECT them to be responsible. Over time, at least SOME would. So for now, kids will get free lunch, free bus tickets, free supplies and free health care so they have enough money for a new ipod and hundred dollar shoes.

"---hole" Andrekoupolos doesn't even realize what he is saying anymore. In a perfect world, what some horse manure!!! There is not, never has been, never will be, a perfect world!!! It is awful Andy's job to EDUCATE children. Not
feed them,clothe them,analyze them,
or BE THEIR PARENTS or GUARDIANS!!!
We were NEVER provided social services-parents actually took care
of their children!Actually,with a lot less resources (MONEY)than parent have today.Yes!!Less!! It's
time that I have a say in my MPS tax dollars, without the imbeciles on the school "bored"and the brain
dead "Stupid"intendent just throwing tax dollars away on social services rather than educating the many kids who want a good education.

I actually don't think you know what you are saying scorpion. If you go back and reread what was just said, you'll see that the superintendent is actually agreeing that the world isn't perfect and that is why he wants to beable to provide food and supplies to students who attend MPS. Some parents and guardians aren't able to feed their children so they send them to school hungry...so maybe you should get your head our of your ass and realize that people may have more funds than before, yet HELLO! things are more expensive these days. So what your saying is it doesn't matter if a student is starving, sick, and naked, as long as he's learning that 2+2=4 then everything is ok!...its unfortunate that i'm wasting my social security tax money on ignorant people like you.
