Just a thought

Something interesting happened yesterday in one of my classes.
An adaptive PE class was in the weight room...
I let the kids listen to the radio...
A rascal flatts song came on and two of the girls insisted that I turn it up...
Why is this interesting to me?
These are inner city kids who only listen to R&B and rap, and they wanted to listen to a country song...

That's because Rascal Flatts is music that these kids would relate to more than a country music fan can ever relate to. A couple weeks
ago two shows promoted as country shows were in town on the same day.
I went to see a GREAT COUNTRY show.
EMMYLOU HARRIS combined country/folk/bluegrass to a show reviewers said was a great Country show. This show was sold out in a small venue. The other country show
played the large venue and was panned by the reviewer. The show was
hyped for months by country radio and was made to be must see.I'm still glad I saw the wonderful country show EMMYLOU HARRIS at the Pabst Theatre. The show I missed- I
have seen before, and even with new songs didn't need to see again.
This show was Rascal Flatts.Country
radio now is promoting the up coming concerts of Bon Jovi and Jimmy Buffett.I think GAME, there should be no surprise that MPS kids
would tell you to turn up a "country" song.Heck,Kid Rock is now on country radio too!!!!!!
