Youth leaders protest Mayfair ID rule

Groups call for meeting to discuss alternative ways to keep mall safe

Leaders of three Milwaukee organizations that serve more than 1,000 mostly African-American teens say Mayfair Mall's adult supervision policy, which went into effect Friday, will disproportionately affect central-city, minority youth.

If you read the article you find out that there have been meetings, and Mayfair is about to become capitol court, northridge or grand ave...meaning they will be gone or made into a large swap meet...

YES, it would be wrong if certain people were singled out, and if that does happen, THEN bring it up...but trying to force business leaders to not save their business because MAYBE blacks will be picked on is terrible...

There is no MAYBE about the future of Mayfair if things continue...FACT: Whites are getting less and less comfortable at the mall, they need to see something happen to make them feel safe. I don't go there, I don't live around there...The few times I was there I did see large groups of African American males walking around. It doesn't bother me because I teach these kids every day, but I though that most suburban shoppers could easily be intimidated...

It is an interesting question...You don't want to go after a group because others are scarred of them, that is clearly racist. But, are most incidents of harassment and crime done by black males? Are they more likely to loiter? I don't know the answers, but I guarantee the owners of the mall do, and they feel this is the best way to save their mall...

There are so many ways people can go with this...
Is the policy racist?
Should a business cater to the fears and wants of its paying costumers, even if it singles out another group?
If this is not the correct policy, what is?

I've always felt that the people who live and work in an area are the best at determining who's causing the trouble. If everytime you're getting mugged or robbed and the perp is a red-haired Irish looking guy, it's probably wise to be wary of Irish looking guys, particularly if they have red hair. This isn't discrimination, it's common sense. If criminal activity, suspicious activity, harrassment activity is always being perpetrated by young black dudes who dress as if they love the thug life, then it makes sense to disperse them if they gather and loiter. Here's a tip: if you don't want to be harrassed by the police, don't dress and act like a freakin' hood! If you want to insist it's a "black culture" type of thing, then freakin' deal with the harrassment. It's the logical reward of such behavior.

see, here we have two very good answers...100% correct...and liberals are going to say both of you are racist...
You can't single out one group, even if they cause 90% of the trouble...and just saying a certain group causes most of the trouble (even if it is true) is racist in the PC world, and that is why things are getting worse everywhere...PC makes it so that no one can address actual problems
