As far as Sandy Bergler, his sentence was probably lighter because, well, you won't believe me anyway, so I'll direct you to one of the last media outlets not under our control- The WSJ editorial page:

"On Wednesday, we quoted Justice Department prosecutor Noel Hillman that no original documents were destroyed, and that the contents of all five at issue still exist and were made available to the 9/11 Commission. But that point didn't register with some readers, who continue to suggest a vast, well, apparently a vast left- and right-wing conspiracy. The Washington Times, the Rocky Mountain News and former Clintonite Dick Morris have also been peddling dark suspicions based on misinformation.

The confusion seems to stem from the mistaken idea that there were handwritten notes by various Clinton Administration officials in the margins of these documents, which Mr. Berger may have been able to destroy. But that's simply an "urban myth," prosecutor Hillman tells us, based on a leak last July that was "so inaccurate as to be laughable." In fact, the five iterations of the anti-terror "after-action" report at issue in the case were printed out from a hard drive at the Archives and have no notations at all.

"Those documents, emphatically, without doubt--I reviewed them myself--don't have notations on them," Mr. Hillman tells us. Further, "there is no evidence after comprehensive investigation to suggest he took anything other than the five documents at issue and they didn't have notes." Mr. Berger's sentencing is scheduled for July, and Mr. Hillman assures us Justice's sentencing memo will lay out the facts and "make sure Mr. Berger explains what he did and why he did it." Meanwhile, conservatives don't do themselves any credit when they are as impervious to facts as the loony left. "

There is no equal justice in this case, else Hillary Clinton would still be serving in the "Big House" for all the lies she told special prosecutors.

no mention of Bill

Bill Clinton was a slimeball and a sleazebag. He was still a better president than either of the Bush's

Sandy Berger pled guilty. Scooter Libby went to trial. I bet you anything that had Libby pled guilty he could have worked out something a lot less than 2.5 years.

As for Bill, he was impeached--though not convicted by the Republican-controlled Senate. In the meantime you had liberal wackos like Russ Feingold demanding he be censured. He subsequently lost his law license and will be remembered not as the man who brokered a lasting peace in norther Ireland but as the guy who cigared Monica.

And for Hillary, she has never been demonstrated to have lied about anything. Ken Starr couldn't nail her. Her biographers haven't nailed her. Networks have to edit their tapes to make it sound like she's lying. If you know something that hundreds of people and millions of dollars haven't yet uncovered, call me, cause I can get you a sweet book deal.

Hillary Clinton has several positions on the war ranging from neocon uberhawkness to voting against the troops, so running against her will be a pleasure. The Hillary versus Hillary ads are going to be beautiful. In the meantime, I'm personally keeping my powder dry until after her nomination.

Libby would have gotten 15 months if he had been the least bit contrite about his guilt. He still apparently doesn't think he did anything wrong (course neither do you). The evidence, the jury, and the law says he did.

Yeah, sure. Libby's "crime" was so terribly grievous and damaging to the nation. What a crock. What's he to admit to, some insignificant little statement from long ago? He's a busy guy, talks to a lot of people, and most of us can't remember what we said word for word to anyone yesterday. What a freakin' crock! Talk about miscarriage of justice, talk about the sentence not fitting the "crime". Worst of all, the guy who actually leaked the name doens't even get his wrist slapped. That would be Richard Armitage who leaked the name of a NON-covert agent according to the person who wrote the definition. If there's anyone who should be getting a pardon, it should be Libby.

Jay,

You forget the Subpoenaed Rose Law Firm Billing records that miraclously turned up in Hillary's bedroom after the Grand Jury expired. Both Bill and Hill ought to have lost their law licenses over that in and of itself.

Jay, you demonstrate a high tolerance of law breaking by Democrats only.

Jay Bullock said...

Boy, pcd, are you desperate. Remember when the records turned up, they confirmed Hillary's recollection of the events. They disproved the notion that she had lied to investigators or committed perjury, proved that she was telling the truth all along!

PCD said...

Jay,

Again, you miss the point. Hillary hid the records until AFTER the GJ expired. No one else gets to do that and keep their law license. Also, Dick Morris says there is more in Hillary's Arkansas days that should have put her behind bars if Starr had chose to pursue.

The Game said...

no pcd, everyone that knew the Clintons is lying, they are the ones who tell the truth

Jay Bullock said...

So, pcd, you choose to believe that Hillary Clinton:

1. Told the truth on the stand, to investigators, to the special prosecutor, and in front of Congress, and then . . .
2. When accused of lying in all of those venues, chose to "lose" the very documents that would support her testimony, risking . . .
3. Another round of investigations about whether the Clintons had obstructed justice because the documents were "lost"--an investigation that did happen and that could not prove obstruction or any other crime.

I mean, I know you hold the Clintons in low esteem, but I doubt you think they are so stupid as to instigate more investigations by hiding documents that showed Hillary was telling the truth.

PCD said...

Jay, get off your DNC talking points. Hillary withheld the documents. That is a fact. Now, can you deal with that?

Jay Bullock said...

It is a "fact" that the documents were not produced until January 1996.

Ken Starr and Robert Ray did not claim it as "fact" that Hillary or anyone else "withheld" them. They investigated specifically that point (and I think the Republican Senate did as well), and concluded that the evidence didn't show a crime had occured.

Again, these documents exhonerated Hillary. Why would she hide them?

PCD said...

Jay, I was waiting for you to hang yourself once again. Those billing records did no such thing. You can't prove that as a legal fact as they were never examined in court and never produced to the Grand Jury for which they were subpoenaed. I would like you see you try to deny documents to a Grand Jury. I'll send you some soap on a rope. You'd need it.

You are another example of why English Teachers should never be allowed near the levers of power.

Jay Bullock said...

If you can find me a source that says the documents disprove Hillary's court testimony, public statements, statements to investigors and testimony before Congress, I'm willing to listen.

As it is, I can only rely on the statements of the independent counsels in their report:

This Office also investigated whether Mrs. Clinton made knowingly false statements to the Resolution Trust Corporation regarding the relationship between Madison Guaranty and the Rose Law Firm, as well as her own work related to Madison Guaranty. This Office determined that the evidence, including the evidence reflected in the billing records of the Rose Law Firm, was insufficient to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that her statements to the RTC regarding the matter were knowingly false.

This Office investigated whether Mrs. Clinton was involved in an effort to obstruct this or other investigations by withholding relevant evidence or information on connection with Rose Law Firm billing records. [. . .] This Office determined that the evidence [about the records] was insufficient to prove beyond a reasonable dount that any person, including Mrs. Clinton, knowingly or willfully possessed the billing records with the intent to obstruct justice.

Really, pcd, it would do you well to read that whole report. Everything the IC investigated turned out to be all smoke and no fire. It might put a lot of your unreasonable mythical beliefs to rest.

Yeah, Philip, that silence is lovely.

Jay, you should speak since you've been owned by the game since the beginning of this blog. You regularly pull a disappearing act when you are proven wrong.

You may think you've won, but you haven't. It is just no one wants to play with you now.

Yes, Jay,

Where was I "proven wrong"? I've been paying attention, and I don't really think I've been "owned" by anyone here. Ever.
