Police arrest 45 at Summerfest on Friday

Forty-five people were arrested at Summerfest Friday, most of those for underage drinking, the Milwaukee Police Department said today. Here's the run-down provided by Milwaukee Police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz:Police arrested 30 people for underage possession of alcohol. Other charges included possession of controlled substance, resisting arrest and obstruction.

I had a few thoughts:
1. Is this story in the to try and show that the white festival has lots of problems too...not just the black ones?
2. Is this a problem? 45 minor arrests at a place that probably had between 80,000 and 110,000?
3. Is this comparable to a riot where people were beaten half to death?

I just wonder why this was reported...Maybe there are usually even less arrests and that fact there are 45 is a story. Could this be another small case of unintended bias? Is this nothing?

Okay, time for me to go to summerfest. If you want to hang out I'll be a the Miller Lite stage watching the Goo Goo Dolls.

I was asking a question...you must be a liberal since all you can do is insult and make no remark that adds to the debate...

I tossed some questions out there...
It is news worthy. Do they put that out every day for summerfest? Does the papaer put every single arrest in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Racine and Kenosha county every day?

It doesn't seem like a newsworthy story...and if I am wrong, you should tell me why...not the pathetic post "american" gave..

You can't even seem to stomach a simple reply without calling it 'pathetic'!! It shows your lack of maturity to handle anything.

Coming back to your question - As I said, who is comparing white festivals with black festivals? It's YOU! For others who don't see things on racial lines, these are all news items. It could be 45 arrests in east side or north side.

By the way, if there are 45 arrests in one of the 'black' festivals (as you call it), would you still think that it's not newsworthy?

"you must be liberal" - haa ha!! See, how your far-right mind works. By the way, how do you know I am a liberal? If my commonsense qualifies me to be a liberal, let it be!! :)

Finally, stop looking everything with your racial bias. Don't be one of those republican Al Sharpton!!!

I didn't say that the paper WAS comparing the two, but IF there was some sort of white guilt to report on a story to counter the Juneteenth festival...
The rest of your post is not worth responding to...

There's little if anything to say. If 45 people were arrested in one day at a county fair or rock festival around here, you can be sure they would report it. Not because it has black or white connotations, but because it is news. Unless the average daily arrests are 145.

I must have missed the arrest statistics from the weekly city-wide neighborhood and church festivals. Yes, there are arrests every week-end at and on the street around the church and neighborhood festivals. You just don't see the Milwaukee URINAL put it anywhere that you could easily read about it.These numbers are not spectacular enough unless it really gets out of whack like the Greek festival did a couple years ago.Didn't see one thing about STATE FAIR police having to clear the unruly crowd with mounted police.Yes, it happened.I stood there and watched them do it on the way home from work.Underage drinking versus theft, battery, and refusal to disperse and leave when ordered to.Which should be a legitimate news story?? OOPS!the Milwaukee URINAL gets it backwards again.

are there 100,000 people at your festivals Jim...if so, they would be doing a story on how ONLY 45 people were arrested

I live in a major metropolitan area. Of course our festivals and fairs have hundreds of thousands of people.

But this is a silly subject. Don't know why I bothered commenting.
