I just want to ask: Why do you think this is?
Conservatives say teachers are overpaid and under worked...
And you can't say that poor and minority students don't know how to act or you are a racist...
So what are we going to say about this this problem...
Most telling paragraph of the article:
Teacher turnover rates in MPS went up as the percentage of students in poverty went up, according to the report, which may be the most elaborate analysis of teacher movement in MPS. The same was true as the percentage of students from minority groups increased and the overall achievement of students decreased.
and
The report says teachers generally don't cite pay and benefits as top reasons why they leave their jobs, especially early in a career. The lack of good leadership in a school and a poor environment for a teacher to be effective are frequently at the top of the list.
Just another story where people are not willing to cite the actual problems...so there will NEVER be a solution...
Lets see if anyone is smart enough to understand what is going on...

Lack of discipline has to be near the top as a reason why people leave teaching, for sure. All things being equal, no one wants to be harassed by a bunch of punks who cannot be punished for forty hours a week. Some may put up with it for June, July, August. For others, selling furniture may be the better deal.
People leave because of lack of support, and because too many kids parents and guardians just don't care. I stayed because of the kids who did care. Problem was by the end of my thirty-three years in MPS
the number of kids who tried hard and did care every day in school was shrinking fast.A lot of similarities to what is the attitude in Milwaukee in general. It
always starts in the schools first.
Why would you stay in a profession where you get less respect than a Baseball Umpire?
