When you want to take a trip back to the "Real America" or the way things used to be, you need to hang around old country artists. These guys have been going at it for over 35 years, and in some cases 50. T.G Sheppard was waiting to come on stage second, and HE walked over to my father and I and started a conversation. They genuinely seem interested in what you have to say, they are very thankful for a nice word, and Sheppard really seemed to enjoy looking at a picture of my son and have my father tell him how big he is. He told my father that my son was blessed to have such a great grandpa, then went on the stage and sang much better than most "professionals" do in their 30's. About 25 minutes before the show he met with a woman with severe cerebral palsy and made sure she had a front row seat. Would most performers do that? Nope.
I honestly thought this show would be boring, a real sleeper. However, I recognized quite a few songs, and the crowd of around 1,800 loved all of it. I don't think most people understand George Jones had top 10 country hits from 1955 to 1990. He sang a song that included a video package of the greats of country music like Haggard, Cash, Acuff, Frizzell, Elvis, and more. It was one of the best songs and performances the fair has had in years. T.G. Sheppard had 20 number one songs. After the show the opening acts signed autographs for anyone who wanted one. About 500 stayed around to see the country legends.
Todays fair events included me going to get more Herb Kohl milk then having someone accuse me of drinking beer on the job. I was not sure chocolate milk looked like beer. Also, anyone who knows me understands I would never drink a beer unless it was free and my only option.

selling those tickets.
Must have been accused by the high quality (lol) administration at the fair park. Where have all the administrators that cared about the fair (or other people for that matter)gone?
