Worry about something important.

I don’t feel sorry for this guy – that’s what happens when you assault an individual.

Yes – there are more important things - Lets go after those racist scumbags who still believe in racial superiority. Let’s go after those who support or wisely ‘ignore’ the ‘white tree’ or ‘hanging noose’ incidents!

I disagree. Closet fascists like hashfanatic have a right to make asses out of themselves.

I am eternally sorry to be off topic here but I have a question for you.

Our county contains White Sands and White Sands national monument(Alamogordo, NM.) It has been suggested it become a World Heritage site. There is a debate on whether to do so. The county commissioners are opposed for what I feel are very weak reasons.
That is a separate issue.

In last weeks county commission meeting an ordinance was proposed would require anyone talking or writing about a World Heritage application to give a full report to the county commission and to the public of what they said. Anyone who was caught not reporting could be subject to a $300 fine and 90 days in jail.

How do you feel about this?

I plan on talking about it a lot and I will not be informing the county commission under any circumstances.

Ron,

An interesting situation, but I'm unclear.

would require anyone talking or writing about a World Heritage application

Who is anyone? A writer of a letter to the editor? An Op-ed writer?

I don't see how any government entity can require anybody who writes or talks about something to do anything unless it is part of the application itself.

Ron said...

Precisely Jim. The application has already been filed by the feds and the county wingnuts(only a few of them, unfortunately the ones on the commission) oppose it and are trying to stop it. I have a feeling I may have encouraged this because I raked them over the coals on the air recently. I encouraged them to call or come to the station for a discussion. Instead this may be the result of my rant. Others have written disparaging letters to the editor on the commissioners thoughts on the designation.
The first amendment would nullify this in my estimation but it doesn't stop them from trying. If they pass the ordinance I plan to talk about it on the air and ask them to arrest me.

That's courageous. Maybe Game will start a defense fund here.

It seems quite ridiculous. I would hope you are leaving a few things out, otherwise that is more un-American than anything Murtha, Kerry, Pelosi, Durbin or Clinton say about our military.

Jim said...

Tiresome, Game. None of them have ever said anything un-American about the "military". They have criticized the actions of individual soldiers or marines and have criticized the Administration's "policies" relating to the military.

None of that is criticizing "the troops" or "our military".

Tiresome. Yawn.

Not a separate issue at all if you intend to solicit opinions on the subject. As Game suggests, it seems there are some salient points missing from your presentation.

"Lets go after those racist scumbags who still believe in racial superiority."

They did nothing illegal as stated by one official in the story. Stupidity and stupid opinions aren't illegal, otherwise this blog thing would never have taken off. Why, just dig all the stupid liberal comments at THIS blog!!

""...we don't have homosexuals like in your country."

Turns out.. there is a country for all the fightwingers..

Niiiiccee.. Love the "logic" MA. Do you have one of those noose trees? I hear they are in season these days.

"Why, just dig all the stupid liberal comments at THIS blog!"

You really do have a problem with pots and kettles.. Why hate in the kitchen?

Marshal Art said...

Why would you suspect that I have a "noose tree", Parklife?

And what's all this about pots and kettles? I'M not spewing stupid liberal comments. But speaking of stupid comments, what do you intend to do, "go after" someone with an opinion you don't like? Not very tolerant, not very rational, not very American. If you want to counter their opinion, that's fine. But who the hell are YOU to "go after" anyone, as if you could? Understand here, and I need to explain these things to such as you, I'm not in anyway defending such racist actions or expressions, but I am questioning the notion that there's some way to "go after" those who put them forth. All you've got is to show them why they're wrong, show others why the racists are wrong, and seek to always support racial harmony. You up for that, or do you just prefer to label all conservatives "racist"?

None said...

First.. "go after"? What are you talking about?

Second... intolerance is the American way. Have you been paying attention? And you are one of the leaders in this long tradition. From the terms you use to describe homosexuals to the policies you support to the slight justification of what happened in Jena.

For the record, I dont think all conservatives are racist.. Just the racist ones. Sorry if it hurts. But, justifying the hanging of nooses at a public school is despicable.

Realism said...

I don't think that all conservatives are racist either, but I do think that the vast majority of racists are conservatives.

"Tradition" and all that...

The Game said...

maybe by your definition..
but if you add the liberals who run around saying blacks need affirmative action to get into schools and get jobs...
That hispanics and old people are too stupid to have ID's to vote...
ect, ect, ect...
you have another form or racist

HOUSTON - No sooner did tens of thousands of African-American demonstrators depart the racially tense town of Jena, La., last week after protesting perceived injustices than white supremacists flooded in behind them.

First a neo-Nazi Web site posted the names, addresses and phone numbers of some of the six black teenagers and their families at the center of the Jena 6 case and urged followers to find them and "drag them out of the house," prompting an investigation by the FBI.

Then the leader of a white supremacist group in Mississippi published interviews that he conducted with the mayor of Jena and the white teenager who was attacked and beaten, allegedly by the six black youths. In those interviews, the mayor, Murphy McMillin, praised efforts by pro-white groups to organize counterdemonstrations; the teenager, Justin Barker, urged white readers to "realize what is going on, speak up and speak their mind."

I wonder if Mayor McMillin is a Democrat or a Republiecan?

I think we all know the answer to that question

So, because liberals try to help minorities, that makes us racist?

What color is the sky in your world?

The Game said...

First of all, you don't help them with your liberal programs, you hurt them...so far for a good 40 years...and possibly forever.
The fact that you think blacks are too stupid and lazy to get jobs on their own that they need affirmative action.
The fat you think blacks, hispanics and old people are too irresponsible to have ID's
It's the Left's lack of faith in minorities that has created the culture of learned helplessness.

What "liberal programs" are you constantly bellyaching about, game?

Out of curiousity, do you support the Head Start program?

"The fact that you think blacks are too stupid and lazy to get jobs on their own that they need affirmative action."

Ah, but a sizable number of them ARE too stupid and lazy to carry out the responsibilities of those very jobs...I am curious, how will your approaches teach them what they need to know, and "motivate" them to do better?

Do you even HAVE ideas regarding such approaches?

"The fat you think blacks, hispanics and old people are too irresponsible to have ID's..."

Sorry, but you are writing in Ebonics again, and are impossible to understand. Try again.

"It's the Left's lack of faith in minorities that has created the culture of learned helplessness."

But you are not a leftist, and are indeed, you claim, a teacher, in just such an inner-city school, so why are YOU contributing to this so-called culture?

How can you whine and point fingers at others, when it is you who are responsible for the situation?

How can you not take responsibility for your role in this "helplessness"?
