MoveOn.org's thin skin

link
MoveOn.org's excessively discounted broadside against General David Petraeus in the New York Times two weeks ago won't rank as its most successful tactic. The full-page nastygram appears not only to have solidified Republican opposition in the Senate for proposals to curtail the Iraq war effort, but also to have shaken the group's rich Hollywood funding base.

So it's not too surprising that the liberal advocacy group would be a mite touchy from all the blowback online, even though it should be used to the abuse by now. So touchy, in fact, that it's been sending out cease-and-desist letters to CafePress, a website that lets people offer custom-designed t-shirts, coffee mugs and the like for sale. Last week it demanded that the site remove eight items, arguing that they violated MoveOn's merchandising trademarks.

Here is the poster child for the far-left, true believers. Moveon.org is doing what most liberals do when they don't like what they hear, they do whatever they can to stop it. Don't worry about the First Amendment, liberals aren't really about free speech or freedom of choice. If you don't think like a hard core liberal, you are wrong, you are spewing hate speech and intolerance, and you need to be stooped. Once again we see how the roles are reversed from how they are portrayed in the media.

How frickin' ironic is THIS one?

The one thing that has characterized the Iraqi Holocaust is the pathetic whining and inability to accept criticism of the whiny chickenhawks AND our bootlicking, sniveling military leadership...

It's particularly bizarre (but, then again, what that emanates from the right isn't?) when you consider that the Republican Guard is close to not even BEING a respectable national force anymore, with well-paid private contractors, who are loyal to corporation, not country, call the shots over the troops themselves, who get paid one-twelfth as much.

We ARMED the fucking so-called insurgents!!

Get a grip, game. Moveon.org was perfectly within their rights to speak clearly and honestly about this crisis, and demand truth to power from those who pretend to wield it.

CLEAN UP YOUR OWN BACKYARDS, RETHUGS!

(Don't see much whining over "Freedom Fries" these days, eh?

HA!HA!HA!.....)

Hash, you can't take the truth, and this post of yours proves it.

Oh, Iran is arming the insurgents. Are you in the pay of Iran? You sound like it.

PCD said...

hash, it we start taking out the trash and cleaning up our backyard, which country do you want to be deported to?

Fudgie, when you pay back everything you have stolen from America, then we can discuss the work you'll be doing.

Hash, what the hell are you even talking about...youre simply insane.

The far left are true examples of all liberals. Hmm....so right wingers who bomb abortion clinics are representative of conservatives?

This is even more bad press for MoveOn, yet they may have a valid legal case if trademark infringement has occured. All in all, legal action is a strategic blunder from a PR standpoint.

PCD said...

game,

Hash is nuts. He thinks he is owed greatly and is entitled to everything other people have.

Andy, MoveOn doesn't have a leg to stand on. Now, they'll be an even bigger target for being a legal bully and loosing their shysters upon the public.

Andy said...

PCD, I haven't analyzed the ins and outs of the case but trademark infringement isn't a 1st amendment right. As such, claiming frist amendment protection won't stop the lawsuit in its tracks.

As I said, it's a terrible strategic move and creates nothing but bad PR. I've never admired their ability to strategize in the 1st place so this comes as nu surprise.

andy,

You can parody trademarks. The left has done this for decades. Again, MoveOn has no legs to stand on.

"Hash is nuts. He thinks he is owed greatly and is entitled to everything other people have."

Since you stole it from we Americans, we are entitled to it, PLUS reparations, and interest.

And we'll get it...

hashfanatic said...

"Again, MoveOn has no legs to stand on."

Just by telling the truth, they already stand far taller than you ever will.

Hash sounds like some crazy on a street corner talking to himself...
To talk to people who might have a clue:

Andy: it is nice to see you associate the moveon.org and dailykos crowd with crazy asses like abortion clinic bombers. Cause they are about the same...
Now, which carries a bigger percentage of the party...
dailykos and moveon.org in regard to the Democratic Party or
abortion clinic bombers and Republicans
The answer is obvious. Let's watch someone like Hash embarrass himself and argue that point.

You can also think of it this way...who has conventions that are attended by their party: Democrats attending moveon.org
or
Republicans attending abortion clinic bombers convention...
Therefore, it seems to me Andy agrees the Deomcrats are controlled by crazy ass-far-left wing morons.

Wow, BRILLIANT analogy...

Judging by your past statements opposing reproductive rights for women, I would think you would support abortion-clinic bombers.

Certainly since only evil, "liberal" women would "kill their babies"!

Thanks for the segue into one of the rabid right's favorite wedge issues (particularly when they are losing the argument)...

Andy brought it up, not me...my comment was so brilliant I can see you are having trouble with it...

wow game, look in the mirror!

Oh, Iran is arming the insurgents.

Ummmmmmmmmmm, PCD, have you heard the news reports that we are training and arming the Iraqis(mostly Shia)?
Have you heard the reports that we gave unhappy Sunnis weapons to get some bad guys? But we didn't arm any insurgents in doing that?

Man you are a deep thinker aren't you mr kneejerk.

The Game said...

ummmm...this post is about moveon.org

hashfanatic said...

You are simply jealous of moveon.org's success because they told the truth to the American people, the American people listened and concurred, and you have no meaningful response to the fact that Betrayus is a Bush shill.
