Here is a small glimpse into the life of an MPS school teacher. Borsuk can't believe it, but maybe he has never seen or dealt with MPS parents. They don't show up to open house, sporting events, conferences, ect...
This is the problem...
It will not be fixed with new districts (it will for the south side), "small schools," more money, less money, more tests, less tests...
Only when EVERYONE admits it is the communities fault and puts lots and lots of pressure on parents to start doing what they are supposed to do, NOTHING will change.
Stop blaming the teachers who have to deal with what they are given, stop looking for the newest strategy, the next failure that will not change behaviors and attitudes...

Not even a tax jump stirs MPS families

The problem is...both 'parents' and 'family' are missing in the equation. Isn't it the root cause behind all the failure, crime rate and school dropouts?
No amount of money can change the situation. It's a cultural issue. Have you ever wondered why asian kids dominate spelling be competition? It's certainly not the money!!!! Well....
That is an interesting point...
Right now I teach at a school with mostly black kids, but a good number of Asian kids. Why is it that EVERY SINGLE Asian kid has an A or at worst maybe a B or two, and around 40% of the black kids are failing. A moron who knows nothing will use the race card, someone who has a clue will understand it is where the kids come from that matters...
It has something to do with wanting
to do it and earn that grade...
This is the house that Dem's built!
Exactly right. The socialism, the welfare state we created in the 70's and 80's has created a completely helpless faction of society. They need more and more and more and more help...They are never expected to do anything for themselves. More programs, more money, that will do it!!!
