California wants to control home thermostats

The slippary slope continues.
I don't even want to talk to the liberals on this one, since they have a mental block that does not allow them to even understand what their movement is all about.
They continue to invade your lives, your privacy.
You can't smoke here, then here, then there, then anywhere.
They are masters at this.
They know that NO ONE would agree to what they want, so they take baby steps, and eventually they win.
The crusade to save Americans from their own stupid brains continues. You are obviously to stupid to make decisions for yourself (except to kill a baby), so we (the govt) will do if for you.
It is never going to stop.
Keep electing Dems and in a few years there will be an extra tax of fast food. Make fun of it, but ten years ago you would have laughed if I would have said you will not be able to smoke in any public place, and soon, your own house and car.

from the article itself...

"While the proposals have received little attention in California, the Internet and talk radio are abuzz with indignation at the idea."

exactly, because it is a non-issue, your sense of outrage is being controlled by forces larger than your common sense will permit you to acknowledge

and why is it not an issue in cali, you ask?

because none of this is new

shortly after watergate, similarly unenforceable initiatives were floated, and state funds were diverted to the telecommunications monopolies that existed at the time, in conjunction with Honeywell, at the time the largest manufacturer of thermostats in america

and who ruled the roost back then?

ronald reagan, and gerald ford

learn history, game, and you will at least understand the human mind, realize that much of what it produces is not the art of the possible, and you'll actually learn to enjoy your sundays in peace, as it should be

"liberal thought"? horse pucky! pg&e is a corporation, a utility. it's not liberal.

californians want lower energy costs and no blackouts. if this helps, everybody will love it.

This will be easy enough to get around. In fact, a lot of money could be made by selling space heaters and portable air conditioners. Also, thermostats could easily be isolated to think the rest of the house warmer or colder, packed with ice, or wrapped with a warm towel. Wouldn't it be smarter and less Orwellian for California to encourage solar powered homes?

Of course, nobody mentions how republican deregulation of energy markets led to the price manipulation that caused such insane energy prices in california.

of course you Democrats don't want to admit how many Democrats there are in the California bureaucracy, nor that a Democrat dominated legislature runs CA. Nope, just the usual we propose, but we won't take responsibility for our stupid nanny state ideas.

pcdummy, it's the power company and the public utilities commission, it's not the legislature.

kevin, california and pg&e offer rebates for solar power.

next.

Anon, who can't identify himself,

It is the CA bureaucrisy and the Legislature because they have proposed these rules and were driven off by the publicity that the blogs have generated.

Only old Stalinist liberals like you can't see that this is wrong.

tovarich, please explain exactly why is wrong. exactly.
