Directly from the mind of a liberal

taxpayers resentful and unwilling to meet their basic, universal tax responsibilities

This is in response to my story about another tax increase by liberals, this time on video games.

I would like to know what is enough taxes.
For a liberal, there is no answer.
And the more you make, the more they hate you and the more they want to punish you for your success.
I have a responsibility to be a responsible, successful and patriotic American. That means I pay taxes so the govt can protect me and do things that individual people can not do on their own.
Being able to afford food and shelter should not be covered in that.

I see the Democrats are being totally irresponsible again. I suppose Jay will be along to tell us to shut up and pay our higher taxes that Democrats did not campaign on. That is if Jay is done lying about who said what about Kevin Fischer.

you're right. for a thinking person there is no EASY answer.

One thing is clear, you need to have enough taxes to pay for your spending. you can't cut taxes and then HOPE to cut spending.

you can't cut taxes then spend $100-200 billion a year on a war, putting aside if the war is worth it or not.

regardless of you claims, tax cuts have NEVER paid for themselves, much less a war.

the rest of your rant is simply that. no liberal of any significant standing hates people who make money. but if you have 2-300 billion dollar deficits, you're not going to pay them off by taxing the lower and middle classes. so you tax those who can afford it.

Anon,

You make the liberal case, but in that you admit the problem, NOT CUTTING SPENDING!!!

Now, Mr. Democrat Anonymous, HOW MANY EARMARKS HAVE THIS DEMOCRAT CONGRESS APPROVED??? You want to be honest about how the Current Democrat Congress is out spending the last Republican one??

pcdummy, the 110th congress, led by the democrats have passed about 50% as much in earmark dollars in 2007 than the republicans in 2006.

"Congress did pass more than 11,000 earmarks last year at a cost north of $15 billion, according to data compiled by Taxpayers for Common Sense, a budget watchdog group.

Roughly 40 percent of that money was set aside for projects requested by Republicans, essentially the same amount that has gone to the minority party in most years.

Democrats claim the total number of earmarks is down 44 percent when compared with the Republican-controlled Congress in 2006.

That number is misleading, however, because it does not represent what was actually signed into law.

The actual reduction is much closer to 25 percent, says Steve Ellis of TCS."

“Republicans promised not to engage in that type of conduct and then did engage in it,” said Rep. John B. Shadegg (R-Ariz.), who came in with the class of 1994 with the agenda of cleaning up government waste.

In fact, Shadegg said, the so-called Republican revolution actually made things worse, not better.

Before then, earmarks had largely been the province of appropriators, the perk of pork for favored members.

But then House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) made earmarks a tool of the leadership, doled out to colleagues facing tough races and to favored allies.

The number of earmarks jumped from 3,000 in 1995 to 15,000 in 2005.

Here's a start:

I can link to various Citizens Against Government Waste Articles, too.

Hashie, you going to admit you are sneaking in here around your ban?

I should make you state for the record that you are lying about the Democrats not increasing the number and size of the earmarks they are attaching to legislation this year.

pcdummy, went to your link. not one word about any 40,000 earmarks.

are you that lazy, too?

pcd...rightvoices.com....if you can ignore stuff claiming it's the "liberal media" then how do you have the gall to post some right wing site as "the facts". Why are you so 2 faced? I couldn't find anything about 40,000 earmarks either. Maybe you could be more specific so we can see the light?
