You would have to say that the conservative movement in America sure isn't alive and well right now.
What is going on?
Do people not care about conservative values?
Do they care but don't like the conservative candidates?
Do they care enough that some conservatives are just not voting at all, giving the wishy washy votes to McCain?

There are many factors that came into Florida’s primary. The Gov’s endorsement apparently meant much. The older population (whom relate to McCain), that makes up a good block of Florida Republicans. The so-called “independents” that were allowed to vote. The winner takes all prize of Florida.
If delegates were assigned on votes instead of the winner take all factor, Romney would be in a much better position.
I still believe that Romney has a better chance of winning the presidency over Clinton or Obama, the reason being Republicans want a clear conservative in order to “get out the vote”.
We’ll soon see.
"I still believe that Romney has a better chance of winning the presidency over Clinton or Obama"
even with the mormon baggage, which by the way i don't believe should be an issue, in his case?
there are a lot of religious people, evangelical types, that might have serious reservations about romney for this reason alone, although they may be loathe to actually express it
Anon #3564hd7,
You clearly don’t have a clue! You’ve been conditioned to believe “belief in god … evangelical (gasp) … equals unthinking individuals…
Ya see, the Mormon question doesn’t mean jack shit to most “religious” voters. We would rather have a man with real life experience, regardless if he’s Mormon, representing us. The so-called, double secret, super-scary, evangelicals freaking on Romney just ain’t going to happen! Wishful thinking on your part, perhaps.
Regardless, True conservatives will back whomever is the Republican nomination, simply because a bug in the bed is way more desirable than a jackal in the hen house.
When did 'flip flopper' become more conservative than McCain?
When true conservatives like Hunter, Tancredo and Ron Paul were ignored, it was quite clear what republicans truly deserved!!! Now, it doesn't really matter who wins - get ready for 'shamnesty'!!!
I know that most of the talkshow hosts are supporting Romney over McCain! However, Michael Medved had an interesting segment on McCain yesterday supporting him.
American,
I simply made the point that to conservatives, Romney is a superior choice over McCain.
I loved Hunter and liked Paul, but they aren’t relevant to this debate, are they?
"I simply made the point that to conservatives, Romney is a superior choice over McCain."
and i simply cannot understand how you can make such a generalized statement
do you really believe all conservatives have to fall in line with your pronouncements?
then you turn around and whine when we accuse you of not being able to think for yourselves, and allow talkshow hacks to dictate your positions and, more importantly, your vote
I don't think you are getting the point.
You on the Left have to decide who you "like" more, if you want a woman or a black...nothing of actual substance...just emotionalism.
On the Right we have to decide based on positions and ideas. Yes, it is sad to say maybe some are voting against Romney because of his religion, and that is wrong. But if you look at it, McCain is getting 36% or less of the vote, that is no mandate. The problem is the conservatives are split between Romney and Huckabee while the moderates and slightly liberals are ALL going for McCain. But if you look at exits polls, very few Conservatives are voting for McCain.
What are they going to do in the general election?
That is why I can't see McCain winning the general election...conservatives will just stay home.
I switched my vote to McCain after Giuliani dropped out.
McCain is strong on defense, solid on most economic issues, and does a good job promoting ethical social policies.
In addition, unlike the flipflopper from Massachusetts, what you see with McCain is what you get. Romney's the douche that brought gay marriage, socialized medicine, and higher taxes to Massachusetts-- the conservative commentariat talked Romney up as some great conservative, and I simply was not sold.
