The slippery slope continues.
No spanking...
Then no yelling...
Then no negative words or phrases...
Then no hugging...
No touching of any kind ever...
No pat on the head...
Up next for the PC, a-hole trial lawyers and parents who want their kids so sheltered that they end up killing 10 people in a mass shooting when someone tells them they are ugly:
No direct eye contact...
No grades (already have that in really, really liberal areas...I'm sorry, "progressive")
add to the list...
It gets harder and harder to properly discipline and teach a child.
We teach children that they can get away with anything, and that if anyone ever says anything negative or makes them feel bad they can get the police or lawyers involved.
I hear it all the time from colleg professors...the kids coming out of HS today are not ready for the real world.
This story shows why.
The thing that makes me the most mad is that the administration, school board and union did not really stick up for this teacher. There will always be dumb parents, but when you don't have the administration on your side, you need to leave the district.
Take your job somewhere else, and don't make eye contact next time.
The last line of the article is perfect:
If I were a teacher, I wouldn't even consider entering a classroom without a camera, three adult witnesses and a plan for a new career if things went awry.
Hard to see, sadly, why anyone would.

Pat a child on the head? Not at school

teach them, stop touching them
Do you ever wonder how these hard core liberals can go day to day thinking the way they do?
The world is definately a much worse place when liberal thought wins the day.
and don't think I don't know that is you hash
Old hash...really...nah..much too
under control....old hash..
The sadder thing is that you think this is the way a typical liberal thinks. I agree that much to most of this stuff is stupid and possibly even more harmful than what it is intended to prevent. I guess you know other liberals or you think I am a devation or something but those people are far to radical for me.
I'm sure that the average, everyday liberal is not that extreme, and they intend to do well.
However, that is NOT who runs your Democratic party and that is not who gets face time on TV. The lawyers and politicians are not moderates like you usually are, they are far-left wing idiots.
Since when did “touching them” become a bad thing? I’m talking a purely innocent hug or whatever.
Anon, there was a time when an innocent “touch” was exactly that…an innocent touch… a hug of encouragement, a pat on the back.
BUT, as always when libs take notice; the government became involved, bureaucrats took over, and common sense has left the arena. Under the guise of protecting kids, the gubment has overstepped it’s bounds and gone slap ass overboard with its “enforcement”.
Just because physical touch may be used in a bad way, is no reason to ban it altogether. You don’t realize the healing power a simple hug of encouragement can provide.
That is what far-left liberals do...
They take all thinking and common sense out of the equation because is .0000001 percent of instances something goes wrong, so we have to punish everyone all the time and make the entire society suffer...
"Anon, there was a time when an innocent “touch” was exactly that…an innocent touch… a hug of encouragement, a pat on the back..."
those days are over, actually have been over for some time
”those days are over, actually have been over for some time”
I believe that’s the point of the post. But maybe, just maybe, if enough people get sick and tired of allowing slack jawed, limp wrist, PC, libweenies dictating their twisted since of how “things should be”, common sense will prevail once again.
well said as always...and correct
What anywhere in this story suggests to you that anyone involved was liberal or conservative? The story says nothing about the political leanings of anyone involved--parent, teacher, administrators, detectives, anyone--and yet somehow this is an example of "these hard core liberals [. . .] thinking the way they do" to you.
Well, at least this time you spelled "slippery slope" right.
It doesn't have to say it, anyone who has a clue knows that schools are run by liberals, plain and simple.
Why don't you take a poll at your school Friday and see who is conservative and who is liberal...I bet you it comes out 85% liberal
What does that have to do with it? The crazy person in this story is the mother, not anyone at the schools! After hearing the allegation (and the way the mother phrased it, it sounded serious and deserving of investigation), no one was arrested or fired. The teacher took a re-assignment to get the hell away from the situation.
There is nothing political in this story at all!
If you want to complain about crazy parents, fine--I'll match you story for story. But this story has nothing to do with "liberals" and "conservatives."
what you are forgetting in your outrage, game, is the fact that, in this very litigious and racially charged society, these directives have been put into place for your protection, not to mention that of the school district
you would be shocked if you were aware how many charges are leveled at teachers and teachers' aides that have a sexual and/or racial component
what you categorize (and what may very well be) an "innocent pat on the head" could easily be spun by the most ignorant troublemaker as "he rubbed my son's head for luck", or worse
worst of all, there HAVE been legitimate instances of inappropriate behavior between teachers and students
now, game, you would be the first one to expect the board to back you up, or at least provide you with adequate representation, if you were unjustly accused of impropriety by a student or a parent
place yourself in the place of the administration
do you not understand that they themselves are under legal counsel and, as a matter of POLICY, are forced to institute such seemingly counterintuitive initiatives for everyone's benefit?
I think this is the problem...
Just because some people do the wrong thing, it should punish the rest of society.
Because someone grabbed a kids ass, the next time a Special Olympics athlete wants to give me a hug, should I say no....HELL NO
I know that our society tries to take all common sense and thinking out of every situation, but I don't have to like it and I can get mad at it just like anyone else who has some common sense left and would like to use it once and awhile.
of course not, and i don't blame you for your frustration, we all feel it to varying degrees
but the fact remains that a well-meaning educator, care-giver, religious figure who is completely innocent can easily find themselves in deep trouble, because of the precedent and outrage the legitimate cases have received
troublemakers, manipulators, liars, and flat-out thieves are taking advantage of this situation
and if you have to preside over this, and life has to go on, even though saner heads have yet to prevail, what choice is there?
ultimately, you have to defer to the authority, and I'm not sure that it will ultimately do your cause well to complain about displays of affection, when we are currently looking at implementing cameras in each classroom, after several educators have literally been beaten, and at least two raped
that's the paradigm shift at present
and, sadly, pretty much every inner city district can expect this savagery to spread
"what choice is there?"
How about 'innocent until proven guilty'? Isn't that the standard upon which our sense of justice is based? If the parent is a lunatic, why have they not insisted the parent provide proof of wrongdoing? Why can they not hold up the teacher's record as well as use the testimony of peers and other parents? The situation has been allowed to get this bad, now the hard work of correcting it must be done.
