How much different are the Democrats to Hugo Chavez?

Hugo Chavez has recently said that his country now owns all the equipment and pipelines (billions of dollars of investment from the evil Exon/Mobile) Exon has in his country.
How much different is that from the Democrats who want to take over 17 billion dollars from oil companies over the next 10 years for "alternative fuel exploration?"
Also, a few questions:
1. Who gets to decide what are too much profits for a company? The profit margin on gas is very low compared to other products.
2. Which other companies are next in line to be robbed of profits?
3. How close is this to flat out socialism?
4. When they do raise taxes 17 billion, who do you think ends up paying that? (so its really another tax increase for you).

I know this is a tough sell because oil companies do have huge numbers in the profit margin. I do understand they spend a lot of money on developing new forms of energy and new ways to get old energy...they also have employ a large number of people and have small profit margins. The government makes way more on a gallon of gas than oil companies.I just hate to see Democrats continue to attack evil corporations when it is these companies that create so many jobs.
Again, Dems probably don't even realize they are going to hurt the people they think they are helping.

17 billion is smaller than what we spend in a year on Iraq war. I'm not supporting or opposing dems here. I'm simply pointing out at how both parties are doing what they 'believe' is the best thing for the country.

We can debate these policies. But, to equate dems to Hugo Chavez reminds me of those crazy, fringe elements who compare Bush to Hitler.

Not sure if you get it.

When Dem's compare Bush to Hitler they want people to remember the killing of millions of people...I am showing how both parties involved believe they have the right to simply take what they want...
I am not trying to say Dems are like Chavez in other areas...maybe they are, I just have to look into it more.

There is much they don't realize.

Democrats talk about profit like it is a sin. I think it would be a great thing if every corporation made record profits.

The progressive sympathy with Chavez today doesn't even compare to the outright worship progressives gave Mussolini in the 1920s. They like the philosophy-- everything in the state, and nothing outside of the state. Progressives also like fascism in the philosophical sense of combining corporate and government power-- how many times have I heard Frau Clinton talk about "strategic partnerships" between industry and govt I do not know.

Jason, profit is not a sin. Greed is. We have reached the point where the top percent makes as much as the bottom 50%. We have working people paying 28 and 33% in taxes plus fica plus Medicare and on and on. Meanwhile those at the top sit by the pool and pay 15% on their dividends and capitol gains. That's it. Since I am sure you are not one of them I find it hard to imagine how you could support such greed. Sounds a bit crazy to me. It is totally unworkable.
Mussolini was a fascist. He was not supported by progressives. I don't care what Jonah "doughy pantload" told you. You can't believe everything you read son.
