If you send you child to public school there is a very good chance they have a liberal teacher.
If they do have a liberal teacher, then there is a good chance they are unable to keep their political views to themselves.
Maybe they are not aware, maybe they are too simple to understand that in politics there is more than one side.
For example, teachers showing Michael Moore or algore movies as educational videos.
Well, I saw it today.
In an elementary school I saw two "Vote for Obama" and to "Democratic candidates" signs made by what it looked like where 4th or 5th graders. I didn't see anything about Republicans, not even McCain.
There are not many conservative teachers, but the ones who do choose this field must have a little more class and morality when it comes to indoctrinating our children.
But that is why liberals get so many young votes.
Their teachers fill their heads with liberal crap, and it usually takes until 30 or so before life shows many of these people that they have been brainwashed.
I'll close with a few facts to back up my last point:
voted Republican in 2004:
18-29 45%
30-44 53%
45-59 51%
60 and older 54%

Liberal indoctrination of our children

This is true all over the world.
Young people are always open for new ideas and changes. As you get older, you turn into more and more traditionalist. It gets reflected in who votes for Republicans Vs Dems here in US.
Even in countries like China and Iran, the revolutions (or the attempts) were largely lead by young students, not 50+ age group.
Again, it's sad to see how you turn everything into a political right vs wrong debate. Scary!!
you missed the point of the post, again.
Teachers should not be indoctrination our children with their liberalism...they should not have little kids making vote for obama signs if they are not going to have them make McCain or Romney signs...
If you don't agree with that, you are the scary one, period.
"Their teachers fill their heads with liberal crap"
Now maybe I'm crazy, but that doesn't seem like a "calm, factual and personal-attack-free" statement.
As for your statement that conservative teachers must have a little more class and morality when it comes to indoctrinating our children, I'd just ask what morality has to do with teaching children a specific political viewpoint.
It's morally wrong to present only one side, period. I know, liberals tend to have trouble in that area.
It is very telling how the liberals here have no problem with what I have reported...and that is the problem
keep partisan politics out of the public schools, period
offices and places of work are inappropriate places for political haranguing anyway, teaching kids to engage in it at school is setting a bad precedent, and teaching values that are counter to productivity and getting along with others
Politics and the teachers politics
are things that time should not be spent on in schools......
To get all politics out of the classroom, you have to fire all the Liberal Teachers, Administrators, and College Professors.
Remember, they keep thier ilk employed no matter what. Perfect examples, Ward Churchill and that idiot Truther at UW-Madison.
My son has to do a report about global warning. We have been talking about politics since he was little and he consults your website, GAME and others like Michelle Malkin's and Drudge. At 10, he read National Review about Global Warming. So, I have armed my child to respond to any liberal teahcers. I discuss this with him. He is anti-abortion and thinks global warming is over-hyped. He said, "what is the big deal that the oceans are rising in temperature of 1 degree." He asked me why wasn't there global warming when the US used mostly coal to heat our home. He is bright and naturally interested.
The key is that these Marxist teachers need to know that most parents are conservative, even in MPS. Smart parents will already give our children the tools to withstand the liberal pressure. GAME, we wish there were more teachers like you.
Game:all those old folks are hippies and baby boomers you detest in other posts. No politics should not be in the classroom but you must understand that liberalism has a reality bias..just like your global warming denial..even most republican leaders, Bush included understand that all that carbon in the air causes global warming. You can make radical right nutcase claims to the contrary all you want but that doesn't mean that we should ignore generally accepted science. If we did we'd teach nothing. There is a healthcare crisis in this country and you know it. Admit it Game, the radical right is the fringe. By the way your post sounded like an "emotional" outburst to me too.
See how emotional the liberals get when you bring up global warming.
It has been well documented and reported here that algores movie has multiple inaccuracies, and there are many, many reports not only questioning global warming at all, but even more than show that global warming most likely is not increased by human activity.
just go back to the global warming links if you need to be educated
"...most likely..."
see, game, this is the problem
you will take a "most likely" scenario, which indicates all the research isn't in yet, and turn it into fact, because your talk shows and right-wing pundits direct you to
which makes you absolutely no better, and, in fact, worse than any global warming industry acolyte or calamity howler, because they at least are erring on the side of prudence, and caution
your tendency to issue pronouncements based on politically motivated arguments is what makes it upsetting, when, you, as a teacher, denounce "liberals" as having an indoctrination agenda in the schools
anonymous?
"marxist" teachers?
please, get a grip
I'll try and type slower so that you can understand...
The fact that we don't know exactly what is going on with global warming as it related to the natural warming and cooling of the Earth IS THE REASON LIBERAL TEACHERS SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING IT AS FACT AND SHOWING THINGS LIKE THE ALGORE MOVIE.
I don't know how to say it in a easier way.
This is very simple...
Take all the crap you just said and apply it to every liberal teacher who teaches global warming as fact, who has kids make "vote for Obama" signs...you people are sad and hopeless...this is not very hard to see.
no need to type (or think) any slower than you already do, just drop the patronizing, obnoxious attitude
the point is, you portray this totally as a LIBERAL mindset and liberal indoctrination, while still believing YOU could turn around and teach your own opinions as fact, and be completely justified
now, most districts demand impartiality in instruction, but there are some where you are directed to teach to the community standard, or norms
the problem is, of course, you would believe that your opinions and beliefs conform to the community norm, when they really do not
12% of a typical minnesota community is NOT the majority, much less in underprivileged areas
the primary results this evening back this fact up, or a radical republican would have taken the prize
you are not fighting indoctrination in the classroom across the board, you only want to remove those varieties YOU don't like, only to supplant it with your own
and i am saying, an instructor should bring no political or moral ideologies into the classroom whatsoever, in a public school
how can a science teacher who rejects evolution out of hand and makes their personal biases clear, do their job?
how could a health or sex ed teacher who opposes contraception and tries to program their pupils to reject it, seriously consider themselves an educator in a secular school?
you must present ALL theories, and allow students to think for themselves
you must present ALL theories, and allow students to think for themselves
Yes, that is what I do as an educator because I am conservative...unlike the liberals who only present their side...
See:
"vote for Obama" and
algore movie and michale moore movie...
Honestly, honest, honest....how can this not be clear...I have to be down to a 3rd grade leve right now and you still can pick it up.
Regardless of the "truth" on global warming we need to do a lot of things to bring about alternative energy and a cleaner world..for many reason. I rarely debate global warming because what we do is a factor of many things and not just global warming for me. Plus it is as obvious as the nose on ones face and I hate to debate boneheaded logic and so called facts that cause cognitive dissonace with common sense but here goes.
An agreed fact: Carbon surrounding our planet is a major cause of global climate change. There is no doubt(fact) that we are emitting far more carbon than ever before. I hope that whoevers 10 year old is informed of this. I don't need any more to make up my mind. It's not that hard to figure out. Unless you want to fight just for the sake of pcding.
You may baffle others with bullshit and they may baffle you with bullshit but I am not that easily fooled. I've been bullshitted by experts for years and have learned to tell the difference.
You on the conservative side never seem to get the big picture. You hate people that nuance things but you live your life doing it. You are vastly in the minority in fighting this.
Like the tobbaco industry denied that smoking caused cancer long after it was apparent to everyone...oops sorry you are to young to remember that. Common sense is quite often as good as a book full of so called facts. You like to call it emotion but it is common sense. Emotionalisim is the rage the radical right expresses here when the world rejects their tried and failed ideas. You claim that people get more conservative as they get older but it is certainly a matter of degree if it is true at all. You young whipper snappers have been indoctrinated with right wing theory since birth in this country. You are about to see how liberalism REALLY works and not what some right wing ditto head or overly academic theorist says it is.
It's like your vignettes on the "liberal media" and voter fraud. If you could get out of searching for ways to prove your point and look to the big picture much of this is obvious to most people. That is why the radical right is being reduced to a cult.
Most people know the liberal media, which may have exhisted once, has been gone for a long long time. Even if there was a burdensome liberal media today there would be proof positive that it was totally ineffective, hence not worth mentioning. Yet you do over and over and over again.
The conservatives have pretty much run the country for the last 25 years and completely for the last 7and still you play the abused, trampled on minority and victim of the big bad liberals. You have at least one radio station and a cable channel in almost every city and town in the United States, something the liberals don't have. You have a large percentage of the news paper columnists, yet the big bad liberal media still abuses you.
When will you learn that your purchased facts and narrow view of the world is being rejected not only in the United states but in the world as a whole?
At least your victim/trampled political minority mode will seem a little bit believable and make you feel much better because you will be back in your comfort zone.
Please don't think I am trying to get you to change. Keep calling McCain and Huckabee liberals and insist on your radical, doctrinare, shallow view of life and politics. It is certainly having the desired effect as far as I am concerned.
Oh I can see the spittle coming from pcd already. Please blast away. I consider it a badge of honor when I can get you to prove your "intelligence". No emotionalism though. Game doesn't like people who do that.
"Yes, that is what I do as an educator because I am conservative...unlike the liberals who only present their side..."
not necessarily, for you have not explained how a far-right conservative teaching professional reconciles credibly teaching concepts they truly do not accept, such as a science teacher with evolution, or a health or sex-ed teacher with birth control and abortion
this is why the screening process for new teachers is so arduous, exhaustive, and time-consuming
it's the extremists, who make it so difficult for the moderates
fwiw, films by michael moore or any other such filmmakers have no place in the classroom, but i see no problem with teaching about climate change as a THEORY, and having the kids kick it back and forth
in fact, i'd actively encourage instructors to spur discussion, since it is a timely issue and very much in the news, not to mention intriguing from an intellectual standpoint
I am a Health teacher, and when I had to pick a thesis research project I did pick the sex ed topic.
I found that at an early age the more abstinence education you present, the more likely the kids are to buy into it. After a certain age (6th or 7th grade) you still need to add talk about contraception...but NOT get rid of the abstinence talk. Many kids reported that when the teacher continued to bring up the importance of abstinence, it helped them stay strong in their beliefs....so there ya go. I teach both sides.
In regards to abortion, it is not a topic in our curriculum, so if the topic does come up, we might have a brief, fact based, talk about what the procedure is, most kids give the opinion that it is wrong, I don't pursuade them or comment at all on the matter, and we move on...
Ron said:
Most people know the liberal media, which may have exhisted once, has been gone for a long long time.
lmfao...THAT is a good one. I have shown the polls to prove Ron wrong. Once again, a liberal simply says something and presents it as fact, even though it has been proven false...
Why don't you tell me that Hillary Clinton has "35 years of experience"
Just because there are two sides to an issue does not mean that both sides should be given equal weight.
Propaganda in inherent in our educational system. Part of the function of our public educational institutions is to indoctrinate our children to be good citizens. Instilling Liberal values is vital to helping develop healthy, well adjusted individuals.
In contrast, conservative values impart attitudes like materialism, insistence on uniformity, rejection of different cultures, races, and lifestyles, a lack of compassion for others, the use of violence to solve problems, and anti-intellectualism
"most kids give the opinion that it is wrong..."
you were doing fine, and your narrative was actually quite believable, right up until this point
Phil, instilling only Liberal values gets you dysfunctional societies like Berkeley, San Francisco, DC, NYC, LA,...
You also get radicals with no sense like the Truthers, Code Pink, the ACLU, ron, Phil, Hashfanatic...
Are you doing the typical liberal thing?
When someone gives a life experience that goes against your liberal belief about humanity you just say they are lying...
Not sure if that is what you meant...but I just had that topic come up about 3 weeks ago...of course most do not comment but I would say 80% of the time when someone wants to say something about it, they talk about how terrible it is...maybe even more than 80%.
I don't tell them what to say, I don't make an opinion at all. If they want to know what an abortion is and how it is done, I tell them. Unlike a liberal teacher who might have a talk about how a woman has a right to treat her body the way she wants, and a baby isn't a person until its whole body is out of the mother..
"...of course most do not comment but I would say 80% of the time when someone wants to say something about it, they talk about how terrible it is...maybe even more than 80%."
now, with that clarification, i believe your story
younger people in general, who support reproductive rights, tend to consider such discussions inappropriate for such of an environment anyway
the ones that oppose it have more of a tendency to pontificate without shame, parroting the brainwashing they've received at home, or from church groups
terrifying, the talibanization of our schools, and our children
instilling only Liberal values gets you dysfunctional societies like Berkeley, San Francisco, DC, NYC, LA,...
And installing people with conservative values gets you dysfunctional societies like ...the entire inbred, toothless, high divorce rate, poor, welfare bum south.
I don't really belive this. I just wanted to give you and example of how vacuous every comment pcd makes is.
Hi, I'm a senior in HS and living in Cali, a liberal state. I am considered an ethnic minority (so no dismissing me as a white neocon repub). I go to a school in what is supposed to be a relatively conservative area , but somehow most of the teachers are liberal and that seems to be evident from the tangents they go off on, which often has nothing to do with the curriculum. Luckily, I have gotten along fabulously well with all of my teachers, except for one, regardless of their political views. However, a lot of what they say really irks me because oftentimes the other students never bother to question their sources or "facts." Let me cite some examples:
Freshman year I tested into honors, got in, and was cursed with a radically liberal teacher. Once, he gave me a prompt for the play Romeo and Juliet in which I was supposed to consider Romeo's family history, personality, and convention to prove how increasingly reckless he was becoming throughout the play. I wrote about how Romeo's family had a family rivalry with the Capulets and how they had acted violently towards each other in the past. His love for Juliet could cause familial conflict and of course, political instability within the courts, both families being power brokers. Of course, having money means wanting to now establish dominance and power. Risking that without a care would be tantamount to insanity, especially after spending generations trying to secure that kind of standing. I talked about how Romeo and Juliet were Italians and how that meant they were Catholic. There is a famous scene where Romeo sneaks into Juliet's garden in the middle of the night. First of all, he is calling her chastity and purity into question and disgracing her by visiting her in secret in the middle of the night. This could get him killed by family enemies and cost Juliet her dignity for the rest of her life. First he goes, disguised, to a Capulet party to cause mischief with friends, which could land him into trouble, then he goes through the lengths of the balcony scene which could cost him his life. Finally, he intends to marry the girl whom he barely knows. In those days, divorce meant shame and was almost unheard of.According to modern psychologists, actions like these can leave deep, emotional scars on children, which Romeo and Juliet would likely have. This all shows increased recklessness over time. That teacher failed my paper and rather than telling me what was wrong with my writing said that I was "judging" Romeo and read too much into the prompt. I took it to a colleague of his, another honors English teacher and she said that she could not find fallacies in my paper. She said the prompt was weakly written. I threw my hands up in despair. That was one example. I took it back to him, during my lunch time, and he told me to go figure it out on my own or ask somebody who had taken him before. His reason for not acting like a teacher who is paid by my parent's tax dollars? He was talking about his personal life with his older students who were doing absolutely nothing.
One of his favorite kids was a sophomore who I will call "Kid X."
Kid X was originally a good Catholic boy who was a little shy and was well-behaved. His parents were highly educated and had dreamed of great things for their over-achieving son. He had that same teacher(who my dad later suspected was a closet homosexual because of his mannerisms and the fact that he goes by Johnny instead of John)and that teacher liked to give nearly all of his kids B minuses. He never did grade print-outs to justify his grading or anything! Luckily, this doesn't apply to me, but in a school where most of the kids are white or Asian and need super high GPAs/SAT scores and a million extra-curriculars, that's not fair, especially when that teacher belongs to one of those ethnicities and knows that. He would bad mouth other teachers, humiliate students, and only give the kids that had him first semester the "oh so coveted A minus. " Kid X failed his math and science courses for English. In the process, he became a flaming liberal and asked me about my views on homosexuals. I said that I had nothing against them personally and I think a lot are very nice people, but I don't think they should have any special legislation and I think that it is not biologically sound as revealed in the principles of either evolutionary/ scientific doctrine(i.e. survival of the species and reproduction) or nearly all major religions. He then told me he was gay. He started wearing his sister's pants and wore bows in his hair. That same teacher later remarked to another student on a separate occasion how kid X had initially been shy, but practically blossomed and had undergone some kind of transformation because of him. Kid X is now having to go to a junior college when at one time it was almost sure that he would have gotten into an upper level UC. He is now agnostic and his future has been robbed by a selfish, bitter man who has driven students off campus to do who knows what, which is illegal. How do I know? One time I was actually invited.Needless to say, I transferred out of his class after I became sure of the fact that he was creating a powerful, on campus cult. I can't prove for sure that the teacher had anything to do with Kid X's "awakening", but I can tell you in all seriousness,I have my suspicions. I don't understand why the parents don't jump in and do something about teachers like him. Adults, do us children and teens a favor. We want our parents to act like parents. Find out what is going on in our classrooms and save us! Even if there is nothing going on, at least you checked! We will appreciate it even if we act like we don't. Have faith in yourselves, we're just kids. You're the parent. Although there are a few parents out there that shouldn't be parents, that doesn't have to be the case!
My next example is another English teacher. She was a lot nicer than the last teacher, but was no less of a radical. One time we had to write a paper on an issue we had to defend and do a speech. My teacher said that we could not do overly emotional topics like abortion (which, I really don't see as having to be emotional, but...)but, somehow the War in Iraq is ok. Nevermind the fact that it is a very current issue and that a lot of people have family members over there or know people that died, etc. I was always planning on writing about how videogames do not cause violence (I think that emotional and/or psychological instability and bad parenting causes unprovoked violence in youth, not games or guns or...access to scissors?!?! How am I supposed to finish a project if I can't bring scissors?)so I didn't care on a personal level. But, the hypocrisy kinda got to me. Day come to do our little speech on our given topic and a black friend did his on how blacks are discriminated in the work place and that whites are given the nod. The teacher tells him that actually nowadays, it's the other way around, which is more factually correct, at least in state/government jobs. The next part was really surprising. She said bring it on because the black man has been oppressed and it is the white man's turn and that they deserve it! I know she grew up in South Africa, but the fact is she's white and so is her husband and her kids. Meanwhile, the white kids in class said absolutely nothing. Only one white girl had enough dignity to transfer out because she couldn't take it anymore. I can't imagine how much damage they do to white and Asian boys' self image because they don't get their heyday with feminism or minority status. From day one, they're told they're evil. As a girl, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that. Instead, I have to deal with a system that tries to convince me I am an unhappy victim and my family life is fake. BTW, last time I checked, the racist attitudes of people that lived hundreds of years ago have nothing to do with their descendants who are very willing to get along in a colorblind society. I realize racism still exists, but I don't understand reverse discrimination, either.
Also, if you can't stand Bush, keep it to yourself. Personally, I'm kind of upset with a lot of his decisions, but what does that have to do with teaching? You are disrupting my learning time when you go off on random tangents and that's very unprofessional. If I wanted to talk about it for fun, I'd show up at lunch when you've "clocked out" or something. And believe me, I have shown up at teacher's rooms to just to hang out and talk. Another thing I find really wrong about this is that many kids do NOT think for themselves. They think adults will tell them what to think and they think that all adults are trustworthy. Unfortunately, whoever talks to them first about things is generally the person they will believe. I can't tell you how many times I've spoken to other kids and they will tell me their teacher told them, so it must be true. This is very true with kids from certain cultures whose parents are recent immigrants and have no idea what is going on in American politics, what they're kids are being taught, and, worse, tell them their teacher is always right because they're the teacher. Of course, these kids get to vote in a few months, too. I can’t help but think there is some kind of master agenda to take advantage of them.
My next and last example, because it's getting late, is in another English class. (Have you noticed a general trend here? I haven't had one problem with a science teacher over evolution, despite the fact that I have been warned by fellow Christians about it. It's always in English where they try to convince you they majored in history, when they didn't and try to argue about something as fundamental as your life values, which to me is far more important than figuring out how exactly God made the Earth and how many "earths" or how long it took or if there are aliens, etc. since I've already adamantly decided that no matter what, He made them.) In this class, the theme is women and literature. I took the class because I knew the teacher and we like each other a lot, but I seriously did not know what I signed up for! Although the class encourages you to think and thankfully, she is truly tolerant of differing opinions, the curriculum is seriously slanted towards the left and you need to be careful.
She had us read this packet by this feminist, I'm sorry, “gender studies” professor from Europe who isn't even American born (let's be honest, your family needs to have been in America, or any other civilization, for a few generations for you to truly understand the history and society. I'm all for legal immigration, but yeah, you're still an immigrant.) and she said it in her own words. According to her, in truth, humans dominate each other by creating a class system through gender, race, and having more resources, which all ties into economics. Therefore, the only way to get rid of inequality is to get rid of personal property so that way we can all be the same. I don’t know about you, but an alarm sounded in my head when I read that because I knew I was being introduced to communism 101. Considering economics and biology are required class at our school, I was surprised nobody jumped up and said that doesn’t make any sense! Adam Smith would be rolling over in his grave. Of course, the other brainless females started praising the work without actually thinking about what was being said. How have we gotten so illogical as a society that our students can read something explicitly stating what it means and then not be able to comprehend its message when it is written in very clear language? I know those kids are native English speakers, too. You know, I’m kind of starting to see why there are less females in math and the hardcore sciences (joke). I’ll tell you what else is funny. They talk about how biased math, science, and business is against females, how masculine and heartless those disciplines are, and then wonder why girls won’t pursue careers in them later since those are the jobs that offer higher pay on average. What happened to canning the idea of gender that they so frequently advocate and just saying to all of your kids if you like science, go into it and if you don’t, well, don’t. I don’t understand the issue, here.
We have also been forced to consider the impact Barbie dolls and models have on our self image as females. Other than the fact that I wish there were more brunette Barbies that were as pretty as the blonde ones, for fairness’ sake, I remember having a great time playing with my dollies. I don’t ever remember feeling bad about my body or worrying about my weight. I’m sure most girls and guys, at one point or another worry about their appearance from time to time, but that’s normal. Do something about it. Work out, get a boob job, visit a dermatologist, and then feel good about doing something for you and rejoice in the fact that you are now “hawt.” I thought Barbie looked perfectly normal. Whoever came up with the idea that she would fall over because of the size of her boobs was probably jealous. Yeah, maybe she represents whiteness and has an ideally white figure, but so what, we’re in America. Most of America is white. Mattel is a company and the object of a company is to make a profit, so of course they want to appeal to their clientele. Unless somebody starts throwing around racial slurs or they refuse to make other ethnic Barbies period, I’m not going to get offended and nor should you. I also can’t stand the fact that whenever I hear the whole models “have gotten thinner” argument, nobody understands how they came up with that statistic and the teacher doesn’t explain it. The fact is that if you have ever read a health book in your life or searched random articles on the net for the sake of learning something new, or even listened on the news, the average American woman is getting fatter. Of COURSE models are getting thinner IN COMPARISON to the average woman, but that doesn’t literally mean they are thinner than previous decades. Then, there is the fact that we always read these books about wealthy white women whose husbands are relatively nice to them, yet they still feel oppressed because they are married and have kids. A lot of them commit suicide and others go crazy. Usually, you find out the author was sexually abused or was mentally unstable because there is an author biography attached to the reading. Somehow, this makes their story that of all women of the time period. What I especially dislike is not only is this a “white woman” thing, but now they want minority women to embrace it in order to appear more “American.” How far from the traditional values of American society and how is this supposed to make us feel about intimate relationships or marriage, or having babies? If anything, it would make me scared of the opposite sex if I didn’t any better.
Well, good night folks.
