I am literally going to read this line by line, and when I feel like pasting something and commenting on that, I will...(of course, before I send it I will have to check my email to see if Rush or Hannity sent me my talking points yet)
unless we perfect our union by understanding that we may have different stories, but we hold common hopes; that we may not look the same and we may not have come from the same place, but we all want to move in the same direction – towards a better future for of children and our grandchildren.
Okay, so here he is basically saying that it doesn't matter what color you are, who you are, we are all the same and should work toward a better America. Let's see if he continues this harmonic tone and if he EVER defines what he is going to do to make this a "better America"
I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slaveowners
This line is flat out bullshit. Is that the message Obama? Get black people pissed off and upset about something that happened many generations ago? What does that get done Obama? Are you saying this so black people have an excuse if they are not successful? Do you want them to hate America and hate their lives? Do you think we will soon make black people slaves again? No, its all race baiting. He is a race card carrier just like the rest of them.
Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely – just as I’m sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.
Really? Most Americans sit in Church every week for 20 years and STRONGLY disagree with what the leader of that Church is saying. No, I think not. I'm not saying everyone completely agrees all the time, but if you have fundamental disagreements with the basic message of that Church, find another one. If you sit there for 20 years, you must not disagree so much.
He strengthened my faith, officiated my wedding, and baptized my children.
Thanks for making that clear. I'd like to have a clip of Obama saying all this great stuff about his pastor, then play what the pastor says right after it....
But we do need to remind ourselves that so many of the disparities that exist in the African-American community today can be directly traced to inequalities passed on from an earlier generation that suffered under the brutal legacy of slavery and Jim Crow.
No no no no no no!!!! This is the problem, right here. Keep blaming everything on the white man from 50 to over 200 years ago. Jim Crow laws doesn't make someone join a gang, smoke weed all day, not do your homework, smoke crack and not care that your 6th grader can't read, it doesn't stop you from getting a job....and so on. All it does is make you mad, depressed and hopeless. Hey Obama, why don't you make THAT your change. Stop focusing on what happened in the past, and why don't you tell me how you are going to fix the future. Because so far you haven't said a damn thing.
the erosion of black families – a problem that welfare policies for many years may have worsened.
Finally he says something correct. Failed liberal social programs have helped create entire communities of learned helplessness and failure....
But for all those who scratched and clawed their way to get a piece of the American Dream, there were many who didn’t make it – those who were ultimately defeated, in one way or another, by discrimination. That legacy of defeat was passed on to future generations – those young men and increasingly young women who we see standing on street corners or languishing in our prisons, without hope or prospects for the future.
YOU are making sure it gets passed on, as are just about all black leaders. You make sure most in your community look under every rock and every turn for some glimpse of racism, some excuse, some reason to not be successful. I'm still waiting for your hope and unity.
Okay....my ADD just kicked in, 25 minutes is more than enough on this one...continue of you want...

It just dawned on me, being a member of a UCC church myself, that the members of Trinity could have booted Wright wright out of the church and found another minister. The point is that the members want the type of rhetoric Wright spews. Certainly this is more important should one be running for prez of the USA, but for the average congregant, they should all be ashamed.
As I have said before...the most obvious racists I have met and dealt with in my daily routine have
not been white...and it has been my
fault for everything that has brought that person to the attitude
being displayed...imagine that..
