Changes at St. Anthony make it a school to watch

See what happens when you run a school with conservative principles...it works.
When you don't latch on to the newest failed liberal idea that is forgotten about 3 years later, and stick to hard work and traditional teaching, guess what, kids learn!!!

RAMON CRUZ does a great job...just like he did at the MPS school a couple blocks away when it was the largest elementary school in the state...imagine that.....

Yes and this school does well with phonics and no bilingual education. When will MPS get the message that immigrant parents want their children to speak English. It is only the education hacks who want to preserve their bilingual jobs. Teach these kids English and they will be successful like any other immigrant group in Milwaukee.

The school has a long way to go. For one thing, results on standardized tests, provided by the school, show St. Anthony on a par with MPS as a whole in some instances and below MPS in others. In broad terms, students new to the school - many with limited English ability - do poorly on such tests, while those who have been there longer do better but are still below the 50th percentile nationally for their grade.

Remind me to discuss your definition of "it works" with you sometime.
