Ethanol

Can we stop ruining just about every market we have with this stupid crap.
Corn, wheat, milk, eggs, ect, ect, ect are between 2 and 3 times higher in price right now than they were one year ago.
Why?
We are taking valuable farm land and turning it from food production to energy production.
It is crap gas that makes things run inefficiently, it cost more energy to produce than regular gas.
And since crops are so expensive, third world countries are cutting down parts of the rain forest as record rates...result:
More carbon dioxide in the air.
So it doesn't work on ANY level...
It makes all our food cost much more
It doesn't help the environment
It doesn't help us become independent from foreign oil

Ok....So, do you have any solution to our dependency on fosil fuel?

The solutions suck. Energy interdependence is the way to go.

"why do you believe these silly lies?"

When the demand for a commodity increases, so does its equilibrium price. Geez, don't you ignorant liberal Neanderthals understand anything?

Nuclear.

ah, one-world government, spp, and a global currency

"When the demand for a commodity increases, so does its equilibrium price. Geez, don't you ignorant liberal Neanderthals understand anything?"

we don't understand why you would attempt to bait-and-switch us with spiking one commodity from another in order to confuse and frighten us, and think we'd allow you to get away with it

"The solutions suck. Energy interdependence is the way to go." - Why do you think they suck? Wind, geothermal, solar energies can really make a huge impact.

As to 'Nuclear' option: I'm for it as long as we do it in a 'safe' way. Anyone with understanding of nuclear waste handling and possible accidents, gets a little worried with the nuclear power plants. But I do believe that we can certainly make some progress there.

These technologies are extremely inefficient. And they're extremely expensive. I'm "for" solar and wind power too, but hope doesn't make a business profitable. Furthermore, I'm totally against corporate welfare, including welfare for nuclear.

I agree. Corp welfare distorts costs and pricing. I think an unfettered market economy can find ways to make things cheaply and safely. It usually does.
