Why what Obama's pastor says matters

pastor video
I wanted to think about this for a minute.
Some people think that this doesn't matter because Obama is not a pastor, he can't control what his pastor says.
Well, do you think that maybe over the past 20 years IF Obama didn't agree with this type of thought he might choose a different Church?
If Obama didn't agree with the mindset he might have wanted someone else to marry him and baptize his children?
It makes you think. His wife makes racist comments in a paper and at a rally. Obama has been listening to, and I guess agreeing with his racist pastor for 20 years.
I think it is very possible that as more and more of this stuff comes out, more and more people are going to wonder is Obama is just another racist black male who hates America and all white people.
How can you honestly believe that all these people around him can keep thinking these things and Obama be completely clean and free from it? I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt with his wife being this way, but its starting to be too much now.

The icing on the cake is that the Dems are stuck with Obama. This will be better than the swiftboats!

Latest polls have McCain beating Hussein in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Washington, New Jersey, Ohio, and of course, given Hussein's support for Ahmadinejad and the Castro crime family -- Florida.

Sucks to be you, democrats. Given the economy and the situation in Iraq, you should have beat us easily this election. But instead of running a sensible ticket like Warner-Bayh, you got greedy and chose extremists.

But wait!!! I thought Obama was a Muslim!?

You guys float in the breeze like a leaf. Then you wonder why you will loose. You have no core. You flip flop to whatever works for the sake of argument. You care about nothing else. Continue with your little cult and the real americans will continue on our path of fixing whats been so thoroughly &ucked up by the radical right.

And by the way we won't be privatizing it or contracting it out. We are pulling our bootstrings and doing it ourselves.

If you were unhappy with the viewpoint of your church and your leadership of your church someone
who is a LEADER finds another church with a more reasonable point of view..not really hard to figure out...OH..NO..imagine that..

This must be good, since Ron can't refute the simple logic. I didn't write about this the day it broke. I came to this conclusion days later, after thinking about it.
It makes sense, and since lefties like Ron are unable to counter it, maybe its even more true than I think.

I never said he was Muslim...

How is it that you are making such a big deal about this guy, but completely ignoring "Pastor" Hagee, the man whose support John McCain has been actively seeking and about whom he has said
"all I can tell you is that I am very proud to have Pastor John Hagee's support."

Here are some quotes from this supposed "Christian":

And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.

The United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God’s plan for both Israel and the West… a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ

He has also referred to Catholics as "the antichrist", "The apostate church" and "the great whore".

I wonder what the liberal media would be doing if Mr. 'lucky to be a black man' Obama was actively seeking the support of a pastor who said those things?

"I thought Obama was a Muslim!"

I never stated Hussein was a Muslim either.

I did state Barack Hussein Obama thinks Muslim supremacists are the good guys. Given the nature of Obama's megachurch, it isn't difficult to figure out why -- Obama's spiritual mentor gave an achievement award to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, they think the United States is the Great Satan, the psycho pastor has met personally with thugs like Qaddafi, and in their interpretation (Marxist liberation theology), Jesus was a colored Palestinian resisting White Roman Oppression.

Do *you* believe this shit, Ron? How can Neanderthals like you support this kind of unreason in this day and age?

Furthermore, how can St. Obama bring "unity" when he goes to a radical, black separatist megachurch?

Anyway, Obama 2008! Yes We Can! (We as in the GOP, of course.)

Really, Ron. The best you can do is latch onto a stupid comment about Obama being Muslim? This does not bode well for you debate-wise.

i don't think that what wright has said in any way reflects the position of obama. that said, i have to admit that i question his judgment for not distancing himself from wright long ago. this is damaging, and it is a shame. i hope that obama survives this, because if he does, it will prove his toughness and his coolness under difficult circumstances.

i think this stuff comes from hillary. and i can't say i blame her. better it comes out now than later. the republican 527s would have held on to this as long as possible into the general election.

i have never supported hillary. i voted for edwards, but the media wanted the woman vs. the black horse race so edwards didn't have a chance.

i will support the democratic nominee because i don't trust mccain on a variety of issues. he's the most able of the republican candidates but also the most dangerous on many levels.

there are many months until the election. much can happen.

First I would like to see where McCain has "actively" gone after the support of this guy...
And realism, I would expect more from you...
I said in the beginning of my post that their is a difference between someone supporting you that you don't really know and someone who runs the church you have gone to for 20 years, were married under and who baptized your kids.
You really have no credibility or honesty if you can't even admit that there is a HUGE difference between the two.
You can still say that what Obama's pastor says should reflect on Obama even though he has listened to it for 20 years, but you simply can not make the comparison with the guy supporting McCain and be taken seriously.

"i don't think that what wright has said in any way reflects the position of obama"

Obama disagrees. Here is a video of him heaping praise upon Jeremiah Wright.

Obama is screwed. My only hope is he survives the primary so the GOP can feed on his dead carcass in the general.

As I understand it, Barry sought out a church and found this one. He heard the guy speak and said, "This is the place for me." Whether he remains by his personal choice or his wife's, the fact remains that he sat through twenty years of this kind of talk. Is it likely we've heard all he's ever said on these issues, or is what the media presented the tip of the iceberg.

In any case, to distance one's self from such heresies should be the sign of character that even a lib voter should appreciate. Unfortunately, he didn't until made to by the exposure of Wright's insanity.

Twenty years. To sit and listen to Wright's version of Christianity and not be affected is nonsense. Let's assume he was affected in the proper sense, that he disagreed with the messages of Wright. How did this manifest? He didn't leave, he didn't speak out against his messages. Remember, this guy wants to lead America, and he apparently doesn't have enough on the ball to even lead the congregation against the diatribes of Wright. No leadership ability, or no courage to do the right thing in the face of possible rebuke by the congregation, not to mention Wright.

Seems to me Obama supporters support a coward or a race-baiter or at the very least, someone with a racially motivated bad opinion of our nation, meaning, all of us. Yeah. He's the guy for me.

Unless I was a black man, convinced that white America has been holding me down, and unable to accurately see that in reality, the libs have been using me, I can’t see how any thinking person could actually support this vapid clown-like pretender.

Oops he’s not really a pretender, he’s a full-fledged socialist. And that means, within the upper echelons of the Democratic leadership, he’s “good to go”. Hell if you get right down to it, he’s Hillary’s soul mate.

no, the wingnuts are correct, if obama does not leave this church-soon-and go to another, integrated church, obama is toast and the election may have been ceded to mccain

and, if it's not this, it will be something else similar, or worse

Do liberals listen, read, think or comprehend?
We already went over how somone supporting you is different from the person you go to church to listen to for 20 years because you agree with him, you think he is such a great guy that you have him marry you and have your kids baptized...this is beautiful for the GOP

The chickens have come home to roost in Obama's backyard.

Obama openly supported Wright for 20 years and now denies he ever heard the good rev. speak negatively about the good old USA? What do you have to smoke to believe Obama? Ald last I heard McCain is not a mamber of Hagee's church. There is a big difference here. Those with eyes open can see it.

I'll tell you what Michelle. If Obama is elected president, that will be the first time in my life I'm not proud to be an American

Game, I am sorry to do this. I honestly am not pimping my blog here. It's not the blog you guys would likely find interesting. As a matter of fact I would suggest most of you don't waste your time. I really don't want to go into some long winded rant in your comments section and frankly not all would even want to read it. I think at least Marshall deserves a response to my curtness.

My response is at

Honestly, I don't think Obama believes in everything his pastor says. You can't hold one responsible for what his pastor/company or country does. It's like blaming Mitt Romney for what Mormon church did.

However, this could potentially damage him. It's the reality.

As to who wins in 08, well, I'm happy with any of the three with McCain being the most favorite. We will have someone in whitehouse who won't go to bed with wallstreet/oil companies.

"We will have someone in whitehouse who won't go to bed with wallstreet/oil companies."

We didn't with the last admin. This is just the typical cliche regarding Bush and his crew.

"Honestly, I don't think Obama believes in everything his pastor says."

I don't either. What he does and doesn't believe is in question. What DOES he agree with? Why isn't he more vocal about what he DOESN'T agree with? It's because he would not be the savior of the black race if he stood apart when Wright pukes his nonsense. You may have noticed that there is positive crowd reaction to Wright's words. Seems to me that if Barry really cared about the black experience, he'd stand up and point out where Wright is Wrong. He never has. The word "coward" is apropo here.
