Is it the military that is making the soldiers sick?

There will be no links, I don't need them.

I have talked to quite a few soldiers who have been in Iraq and what I am about to report should make your blood boil.

Many soldiers who come back from Iraq, now and even during the last gulf war, have certain symptoms that were given names. Just about every soldier in Iraq was forced to take three anthrax vaccines. A few soldiers had seizers within hours of getting the shots. There were even some soldiers who received more vaccines or shots that did not have a name. Now that the soldiers are getting sick they want to see their files, and for some of them, their shot charts are incomplete or missing entirely.

One of my friends now has an auto immune disease that is attacking his own thyroid. They have nerve damage; shaking hands, headaches....the list can go on and on.

Some might think that they are simply causes of being in war. Some might think that it was caused by something in their environment. However, these soldiers were stationed with French soldiers (all 10 of them...j/k) and NONE of them have any of these symptoms. They are fine.

If our military forced soldiers to get shots that will permanently ruin their quality of life, something MAJOR needs to be done.

If anyone knows anything about this, read anything about this, or knows what they can do....let me know. These men risked their lives for our freedom; the least we can do is make sure they are taken care of...especially if they will forever suffer the consequences of our own military's actions.

contact paul rieckhoff at iava (iraq and afghanistan veterans of america)

paul, "from New York, NY, is the Founder and Executive Director of IAVA. He spent one year as a First Lieutenant and Infantry Platoon Leader in Iraq, and continues to serve in the New York Army National Guard. Rieckhoff graduated from Amherst College in 1998, the same year he enlisted in the National Guard. Before going to Iraq, Rieckhoff worked on Wall Street."

from the article:

..."Finally, Operation Truth contends that psychological problems abound for returning Iraq veterans and are not being adequately addressed by the Pentagon. Mr. Rieckhoff sees a spike in suicides among returnees and lost one of his own men to that fate in April. He cites the use of the anthrax vaccine and the drug Lariam as possible contributing factors. He also talks of the stresses of being away from family for more than a year.

"During the war, we had five divorces, and after the war, one suicide, all in our platoon of 38 guys. I think that's sadly not uncommon," Mr. Rieckhoff says.

He compares forming the group to conducting the Army's postcombat After Action Review. "After every mission," says Mr. Rieckhoff, "the whole platoon would sit down together and discuss, 'What went well? What went wrong? What can we do to fix it?' It was a kind of mutual pulse-taking. As a commander, that allows you to identify who or what have screwed up most. This administration hasn't examined its own performance in Iraq, hasn't done an AAR of the Iraq mission, and hasn't held anyone responsible. That's a failure of leadership."

Mr. Rieckhoff's sense of mission may be hereditary - he's a third generation warrior. His father and grandfather were both drafted and served in the Army, the former in Vietnam, the latter in the Pacific theater of World War II...."

I am shocked! You care about this! Kudos to you game...now you are TRULY supporting the troops...I mean this seriously and not as snark. This is what I would like to see more of from those that say they support the troops. Lets do something about this. Lets get mad. Lets take care of these men and women. We owe it to them.
