Oil prices to double by 2012: Canadian study

Despite the failed attempts of environmentalists to slow demand, it will continue to rise at an record pace...and because of these same environmentalists supply will not increase.
So as our gas prices go up, find your nearest liberal and thank them....this is what they want.

actually, i will thank you suv-gas guzzling fools who drive up the cost of gas because of demand. and who have supported a regime that has put our dollar in the dumpster.

HAve you ever thought of the FACT that whether it is 10 years from now, or 200 years from now, it is inevitable that demand for oil will outstrip supply? Why wait to find an alternative?

Drilling in every available corner of the globe will not cut oil prices for long, if ever. It is a simple fact of the free market and the capitalist system. IT is inevitable that the price of oil will continue to rise, even if there was a temporary flooding of the market, causing a temporary drop in price. Eventually it will climb again and higher than it is now.

Do you want to simply pass the buck on creating a lower cost solution? is that how the Right shows its "Right"? By passing the buck and hiding from a challenge?

I don't remember seeing the paragraph in my post where I said we shouldn't try and find alternate sources of energy...maybe you can find it and post it here...

The point is that there is NO reason we should not be using the resources we have not since the hippies have yet to figure out how to turn their own poop into fuel. You have been trying for 30 years, still nothing.
Until you figure it out, we do not need to destroy the world economy and our standard of living waiting.
Just think how much worse off we would be as a country if your type of thought would have been in charge in the late 1800's or early 1900's...we would not be the strong and great country we are today...which makes one think: "Do we want liberals destroying our country now?"

And...our country's greatest generation has become elderly and will soon be gone..along with common sense and all their great legacies being forgotten....

"The point is that there is NO reason we should not be using the resources we have"

actually there are plenty of reasons. coal and oil sources of energy pollute (setting aside global warming because that will just set you off). coal extraction is very damaging to the environment. oil is largely in the hands of those who will leverage its price and availability against our interests. and by insisting that finding and developing more carbon-based energy resources is the solution, you allow those who have them to continue to have dangerous geo-political influence and DELAY the successful development of alternatives.

in less than 9 years the us went from a sub-orbital space flight to men walking on the moon. today the bush administration in 7 years has spent less money on alternative energy research and development that it spends on iraq in a WEEK.

seven years wasted.
