Enough with the meetings, enough with the BS
Take some of the tax money you waste on failed liberal social programs and build more prisons.
Just about every single person that is in the paper or on the news for committing these a-hole crimes has a record already.
This means that if we gave the maximums and maybe increased the maximums these people could just sit in jail and not bother anyone else....period.
Many people are sick and tired of about 10% of city residents ruining it for everyone.
The kids who beat up others on the bus or bus drivers...in jail...end of story...end of high crime rates.

Perhaps that carjacking could have been avoided if the woman hadn't let the perpetrator into her car. I'm not blaming her, but what tourist lets a complete stranger into their car in a strange city?
Sorry I didn't read the whole story but I am glad you recognize that it is a minority of even minorites that are doing this. I am a big defender of law and order but please keep in mind that we must have taxes to build more prisons and even more taxes to pay the (now)private corporations that house them. Are you willing to pay more taxes to do this? Is there anything we could do to make it cost less? Is there anything we could do to make people less likely to commit crime. Or is finding talking points your entire goal. This is the stuff we need to be talking about.
It's why I find most of the people on the right shallow thinkers...you seem to only scratch the surface.
ron, I have gone over this a million times and I know you have read some of it.
I work in the inner city.
I see how failed liberal social programs do not work at all and many times cause more harm than good.
People become dependant and lazy.
They have excuses made for them and they act however they want because no one is telling them that what they are doing is wrong (that would hurt their feelings)
It doesn't work...spend the money on prisons.
No doubt there are many programs that could be cut to pay for more prisons. But frankly, I don't care if they pack them in like chickens on factory farms. They're thugs who broke the law and got caught. Each prison can save money selling all the weight training equipment. They can find ways to put the cons to work and be a profit making enterprise. The main thing, though, is to get them off the streets and into uncomfortable prisons where they will feel they are being punished rather than simply running wild in a smaller community, which is what happens in most prisons.
I once read of a technique that is a matter of adjusting the diets of prisoners that results in adjusting their behaviors. I wish I knew where I read it. The bottom line is that I don't much care about the discomforts of the worst among us who have merited time incarcerated. Just so's they aren't messing witht the general public anymore.
If the old lady had a .38 derrenger, Zach and Ron would be kvetching about killing a perp without reading him his welfare rights.
