Last debate between Obama and McCain

Well, this is the first debate where I think there was a clear winner.
McCain, quite frankly, cleaned Obama's clock on many issues tonight.

It started when McCain looked at Obama and said, "Senator Obama, I am not George W. Bush. If you wanted to run against George W. Bush you should have run four years ago."

I loved the McCain slip up when he called Obama. Mr. Government

On the issue of abortion McCain made Obama seem silly for voting "present" on such a key issue. How can anyone with a soul not vote against late term abortion? Only a far left wing wacko could be for that.

McCain won that whole supreme court debate as well. McCain voted for liberal supreme court justices, Obama did not vote for conservative ones. McCain showed again that he is an independent thinker, Obama is a party line hack.

Obama's health care plan did SOUND better on TV than McCain's, but that is the only issue I think he sounded better on.

McCain's closing statement was very good, while Obama sounded like he was making it up as he went along.

What do you think?

well, you're wrong again (except on health care).

obama gave a perfectly rational reason for voting against the late term abortion bill because of no provision for the health of the mother.

obama totally neutered the ayers issue, or non-issue i should say. i would have liked him to better explain how phony the acorn "issue" is.

looks like the early polls including fox's are going for obama again.

People like Obama on camera because he's he looks so cool, even when he lying. But remember he's trained to lie, he's a lawyer.

I could care less about; campaign ads, punditry or debates. I would never vote for a man who wants to spread my wealth around.

Game, being a teacher I am curios what you thought about the education policies they discussed. I know that you took issue with McCain before he was the Republican choice.
Would this issue be a deal breaker for you?

I disagree. McCain was more aggressive for sure (as in first two debates). But, I didn't find any winner. I guess they both did their part well.

"Senator Obama, I am not George W. Bush" - It was really stupid. I've said this many times before. You can't take off your uniform and run. Like it or not, John McCain is contesting under Republican banner! It's very very dificult thing to convince people that he would bring change when he is essentially wearing the same uniform that ran this country to ground on so many issues.

I honestly feel sorry for this man because he is one of the best presidential candidates I have seen in long time. He is my hero. I may not agree with him on everything. But I TRUST him and I have no doubt that he would do what's right. What a shame that he lost to George Bush back in 2000!

Dems bitch about NCLB all the time, and it was the first thing that MADE them actually try and get results. It is the only thing that drives any success. I understand that Dems will give more money, but if the point of education is to make children smarter, Dems just throwing money at problems without any results is their regular operating procedure. Also, I put my country, way of life, safety and future above my job

Excuse me ???
You should be careful with your assumptions and your attacks. I stated no position, I was asking your opinion, and you turned to attack.
Generally I agree with your position, and conservative thought, but I can see why bloggers here may get tired of responses like this.
This isn't an issue for me in this election, but considering you are a teacher and the struggles you post about, I asked some of your insight.
After your emotional tirade, thanks for answering my question.
NCLB aside, I was more interested in compensation for results that they both spoke about. Not sure we have discussed that here.

ummm....that was not an attack on you personally, it was my answer to your question...

And compensation for results doesn't really make sense.
You can put a monkey infront of a class from the 'burbs and they will get in the 80% or low 90% for proficient.
The best teachers in the world can teach an average inner city classroom and MIGHT get the numbers up in the 40's...There are two HS's that get in the 60% here, but those kids are hand picked by the schools.
Our school is in the very low 20%...
So is that suburban teacher 4 times a better teacher than me?
If you base it on improvement then it is not fair to the teacher who already has 90%...
And I'm sorry you thought I was attacking you...if you are a liberal teacher then it might seem that way, but I see what liberalism does to public schools and the inner city and it makes me sick sometimes.
Also, liberal teachers bitch the most about NCLB..

McCain is all for attacking Obama on the polls instead of focusing on key issues like Economy and the war. He's bringing Obama down rathering than bringing the country up.
