I saw the first 40 minutes or so of the debate.
Now, since I am a conservative I agree with Palin on principle, and her talk about Iraq and drilling for oil were great.
However, I would say that if I was someone who didn't know very much about politics (most Americans) and was just sitting there watching that debate, I would say Biden won the day.
His answers were more precise, they had more meat to them, and Palin seemed to want to go back to the same few things over and over whereas Biden could cover all topics while still getting in his liberal talking points about evil corporations and big oil.
What did you think?

She didn't self destruct like many on my side were certain she would. I told them not to count chickens yet. I noticed right away she got away from the accent and girlish speaking tone. Much improvement there. She gave a good showing of her self. As with you I think I prefered Bidens answers because I prefer their answers. She sounded like the same ol wingnutty on the war and peace issues but that is not just her. She also answered some questions that weren't asked and vis versa. She gave the showing I expected which wasn't bad.
To a large extent I agree with you.
- She certainly tried her best and did her best.
- She was repeating the same again and again which I felt annoying!
- At times, it looked like she was provoking Biden and bait him to say something stupid or silly. Well, Biden displayed great restraint! :)
- Biden had tough time explaining/facing his own criticism of Obama or appreciation of McCain.
Otherwise, I don't think there were any clear winners or losers. I only wish she was more natural with her answers instead of answering her own questions.
Thank god - she didn't blow it!
It was the typical veteran versus rookie contest. I thought of many things she could have said or done, but I understand that she was under “orders” to keep it positive.
My immediate impression was Biden came off as “slick” and Palin came off as “real”.
I truly believe that she believes in her convictions, while Biden, because of his history, is a “wet finger in the air” politician.
I do know that our founding fathers envisioned “citizen politicians”. And Palin may not be as slick as the other three in the race; she’s exactly what was envisioned (except that she’s female).
Citizen Politicians. Isn’t that a beautiful concept? Someone in touch with the engine that drives this country. Someone who is willing to question and buck accepted political back-room dealing.
Damn, if our government keeps going the way it’s been headed the last couple decades, the shysters will start wearing powdered wigs again. And even though Obama would wear one well, he’ll look damn funny.
