I don't know what you want to call it, but here it comes
The federal government is taking over control of just about everything.
Communism?
Socialism?
All I know is that any time a country has its government tell the people what they can and can't do to the extent they take away all motivation to succeed, the economy and society collapses.
Democrats already bash businesses and people with money on a daily basis, they want to tax the crap out of them and punish them for having money.
Now we are going after companies who want to reward hard work and good performance.
Should I just throw in the towel now or keep fighting for the America that is almost gone?

Achievement is now unfair and must be punished. We're all supposed to be self-sacrificing worker bees, comrade! (But don't call it socialism though.)
I don't believe in human sacrifice. That's why I'm a conservative.
Your link isn't working, but here are some choice quotes from the AP...
"Associated Bank says it has canceled a planned trip to Puerto Rico for 100 of its top employees after (!!!!!!!)PUBLIC(!!!!!!!) outcry over what was called lavish spending by a company receiving nearly half a billion dollars in federal bailout money....On 620WTMJ's Wisconsin's Morning News, Janesvill(!!!!!!!)Republican (!!!!!!!)Representative Paul Ryan found out about the report of the Associated Bank junket.
His response, even before reading the story: "That's ridiculous."
oh, wait, here's the JSOnline report:
"Battered by strong and angry (!!!!!!!)PUBLIC(!!!!!!!) reaction, Associated Bank today nixed a planned five-day excursion next week to a posh resort in Puerto Rico for 100 top-performing staffers....
"Let's get this straight: These guys are going to Vegas to roll the dice on the taxpayer dime?" U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, a West Virginia (!!!!!!!)Republican (!!!!!!!), told The Washington Post last week. "They're tone deaf. It's outrageous."
"
Man, you guys never get tired of making me laugh.
Realism, you just don't get it..that isn't the point. The point is conservatives good-liberals/socialists bad. That is the point of every post here. I would think you would have figured that out by now.
Game,I can't seem to get to the story but was this company taking government money?
Is this the way you want them to spend your tax dollars? If so I could use a vaction to Puerto Rico myself.
Do you think if you don't get a vaction or benifits you aren't inspired to succeed? That would seem quite different from the values you adhear to when speaking about the poor.
Should we have taxes? If not how should we pay for our society, our defense and building of structures and institutions to make it run smoothly that we all enjoy everyday?
If so who should pay? Is putting the bulk of the responsibility on the non wealthy a formula for success for the bulk of our society? Or would it work better the other way around? Were there still wealthy people and people inspired to succeed when taxes on the wealthy were higher?
Come on, crank that thinker game and don't frame your response in conservative good/ liberal bad. I said NOTHING about any liberal or socialist or conservative or republican. Can you do the same?
"That's why I'm a conservative..."
you're NOT a "conservative", jason
you're a neocon, big difference
Ron, your oversimplification of my positions is getting really annoying.
I honestly believe business should run however they want, and if they fail, they fail.
I'm going to guess this bank got fed money, but that is my whole problem with this whole thing.
The fed govt should not be telling business how to motivate their workers, or how much they can make (especially if they are non-union) or how they are allowed to advertise.
You go in a fit when I say its socialism or communism, well what the hell is it.
why don't you actually debate my issue instead of try and say I only live to bash liberals.
I think what I think and I believe what I believe...yes it is probabaly 85% conservative, but i'm not a sheep.
Where do you see the government telling them to do anything, game? The two articles I read said that the bank was getting pressure from the PUBLIC after the report came out about their plans.
game, you don't think tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts, over and over, isn't a simplistic answer?? LOL...
I didn't say just tax cuts...I'm fine with ACTUAL infrastructure spending...that is not what is happening for the most part...
tax cuts add to our debt, which is a giant barrier to a solid economy
and, infrastructure projects may SOUND good, on the surface, but they will not help accomplish the "stimulus package" stated objective of stabilizing our economy QUICKLY, since even the most well-organized project will take one year, minimum, to get moving, there will be a lag before any revenue they actually might generate will circulate back, and, even then, the vast majority of these jobs will be low-paying, and in the lowest tax brackets
as for your labelling EVERYTHING on the planet "socialism", in accordance and synchronicity with right-wing talk radio talking points, has it ever occurred to you that you teach in a public school and coach sports in a school district?
that's SOCIALISM, game!
the teachers' unions have been some of the biggest recipients of barky's largesse...in NYC, for instance, randi weingarten and company gave teachers an average 42%, for the painstaking giveback of twenty minutes worth of breaks each day!
and all of this came down BEFORE they voted monolithically for barky!
so, you understand this might all seem a bit obscene coming from you, particularly when we are informed daily that the milwaukee public schools district has 15 intact schools not being used, yet is still receiving taxpayer money for new construction?
if you want to throw drama and lament "fighting for an america that is almost gone", LOL, fine, but why not do us a favor and define this vague struggle of yours, and where you fit into today's economic woes?
because, frankly, it's becoming hard to see how you will do anything but benefit from it all...
if it's a philosophical thing, EXPLAIN this, please! or else, it's almost impossible to address your concerns...
I was trying to address your other issues but I can't assume I understand your beliefs beyond conservative good/liberal bad. That is why I asked the questions. That is not simplifying your thoughts that is looking for a better understanding so we can have a real conversation beyond good/evil.
I'm not oversimplifying anything game. It is you that is doing that. That is exactly the point I have been yearning to make. I don't think all people have to think alike. I think it is good that people have different ideas. That is the way we all learn but go read your posts. What is the main point? Conservative good/liberal bad.You are so deep into it that you can't even understand what I am saying. You have no other frame of reference or way of using your beliefs to make a point outside of that.. That is simplicity at its essence.
Why could you not take a stab at my questions? Do you have any answers? Even when clear questions are laid out? Apparently not.
Actually one point we may agree on is the government should have never bailed them out in the first place. However if they did take government money, well then. Does the boss who is providing the money tell you how much you can make? Is is socialism for people that provide a salary to decide how they spend their money. Do health insurance companies whom you pay money to to give you health coverage tell you what that money will cover and what it won't? Is it socialism if they do?
"Now we are going after companies who want to reward hard work and good performance" - Game
Haa haa...Sure! Hate to say - You just can't seem to stop repeating your talking points!! In your imaginary world, big corporations and the top executives deserve 'rewards' even if their companies are sinking!! Seriously, are you so out of touch with common sense? Have you ever run a business/ small business? Do you know how 'reward' system works?
(Note - Don't give me a lecture on capitalism and business. I do run my own business with clients here, europe and asia.)
