About the AIG bonuses

Just remember a few things about the bonuses...
Obama is running around like a 3rd grader saying "It's not my fault, but I'll fix it"
Hey, that is great political talk...
But here are the facts:
The provisions to allow the bonuses are in the huge bailout Obama pushed through so fast no one was able to even read it.
People he appointed knew all about the bonuses for months and said nothing.
I understand Obama has to trust the people he puts in power and he doesn't know EVERYTHING about EVERY bill, and it would be impossible to know all that, but essentially when you hire people to do a job and they screw up, its your fault, so stop blaming everyone else.

So the point of this post is that Obama needs to stop lying that he had nothing to do with it. His administration pushed through the stimulus bill at record speed and his people knew about the bonuses.
On a side note, did you know that congress wants to single out individual private citizens, publish their names to the public, and tax them 90% of their bonuses...the same bonuses they all voted to let them have?
amazing.

You have no idea what you are talking about do you? SOME of your stuff is accurate but misleading at best. Lots of stuff about how this all started and whos plan it was to start with is not included...why do I waste my time reading this blog. I guess as a social observation. You use to make a point now and then. You use to have flashes of rationality. Now you are utterly completely on talking points and take NO time what so ever to make an intelligent point independent of the spin. It is not even worthy of debate.I know you may be busy but the lack of thought you have put into this endevor lately is very apparent. You are losing it in a noticeable way. You disappoint me Game.

Which part Ron?
the fact you are 100% wrong that Dodd knew nothing of the bonuses?
Well, HE proved you wrong on that one...

I didn't say he knew nothing. Quit trying to rewrite history. I said you lied about the situation. Go look it up:
a February 14 article from the Wall St. Journal on the debate over executive compensation limits:

The most stringent pay restriction bars any company receiving funds from paying top earners bonuses equal to more than one-third of their total annual compensation. That could severely crimp pay packages at big banks, where top officials commonly get relatively modest salaries but often huge bonuses.

As word spread Friday about the new and retroactive limit -- inserted by Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut -- so did consternation on Wall Street and in the Obama administration, which opposed it.
-------
You see he wanted more stringent limits but had to change it in committee! It is actually Geithner that is the culprit here.
I think I told you at the time of his nomination he was no good. How did I know? I do my homework before I flap my gums and I don't take the word of some daytime radio soap opera writer as the 'word'.
I and the WALL STREET JOURNAL proved YOU wrong on that one.

Let's see, you were opposed to using tax payer money for the bailout, in favor of allowing them to use tax payer money for huge salaries and opposed to letting them use tax payer money for huge bonuses. ..Now don't get me wrong I understand that you are just repeating what the wingnuts tell you to say but you guys are embarrassing yourselves. If anybody has the 3rd grader mentality it is you guys. If you ventured outside our little nest of propaganda your face would be redder than a baboons hiney. You are turning into a joke in the eyes of everyone but yourselves. John Bohners job performance rating is down to 14 freakin percent! Rush limbaughs popularity rating is about 19%. You hate emotion and emotional appeals but Rush and Kid hannity and beck are all whipping up emotion on a daily basis. Listen to how they use their inflections and parse there rants..Hell Glenn Beck even fake CRYED on national tv the other night!

This is not something that makes me happy. I think we need at least 2 parties. Unfortunately the republicans are too embarrassing to even watch and the democrats aren't giving anyone much to be proud of.

Game, if you are really interested in knowing more about all this go read here. Believe whatever you want but at least take the time to know something.

Ron, until you stop infering that I simply repeat what other people say I'm not responding to you. That arguement is void of any thought or facts.

The bonuses are not something that needs to be "fixed" by the government.

Would we take a bonus away from an all-star outfielder if his team sucked? The liberal reply is that a losing team shouldn't reward its best players, as if it should get the worst possible talent to deal with a losing situation. Many brilliant derivatives analysts working for AIG had nothing to do with the crisis, yet are now going to be punished by Congress.

And *Republicans* are drinking this braindead, populist Kool-Aid. They ought to know better.

Game, that argument fits like a glove and I can prove it. Just listen to sean and rush and then see what you talk about the next day. Sorry pal, I've been following along and I have proof. You even use much of the same phrasing.

The Game said...

That might be correct if I listened to Rush and Sean...I have a job and a life, maybe I hear 20-30 min of Rush a few days a week if I am going to a meeting, that is about it. So maybe great minds just think alike....you wouldn't know about that.

No I wouldn't...honestly. You watch fox news which is just the next step in the mighty Wurlitzer after rush and co. get it started. The fact that your topics match perfectly with the right spin, even in timing and phraseology ought to make you wonder even if you think you are thinking for yourself.
