Insurers warn government plan would "dismantle" employer coverage

In a joint letter to senators, the two largest industry groups warned in stark terms that a proposed government insurance plan would dismantle the employer coverage Americans have relied on for a half century and overtake the system.
America's Health Insurance Plans and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association also said they don't believe it's possible to design a government plan that can compete fairly with private companies in a revamped health care market. That particular statement seemed to be aimed at lawmakers of both parties who are seeking a compromise on the contentious issue.

also makes sense and is true...
Why would any company pay for private health insurrance if the govt is going to give one away for free?

Under which plan would the government give away health insurance for free?

Your propensity to make up shit out of thin air is amazing!

Right, Anon. I know of no free government health plan in the works. Can you provide the details of this supposed plan? Probably not.

As the President said, "If private insurers say that the marketplace provides the best-quality health care, if they tell us that they're offering a good deal, then why is it that the government, which they say can’t run anything, suddenly is going to drive them out of business?"

From the Daily News, "Obama allowed that if a public plan is “simply being subsidized by taxpayers endlessly,” then critics might have a point. But he insisted a government plan would be just one choice for consumers, who would still pay premiums."

So you're off base as usual.
