BP Oil Spill: Against Gov. Jindal's Wishes, Crude-Sucking Barges Stopped by Coast Guard

59 Days Into Oil Crisis, Gulf Coast Governors Say Feds Are Failing Them

The only good thing about Obama being a complete and total failure is that Dems will lose power in November. I feel bad for people who have a clue and who actually try and accomplish something being stopped by the lifelong do nothing.

Is Obama stopping people from doing something because he is completely incompetent or actually wants to fail. I see no other reason

Looks like someone wants the oil to foul the coastline. Or, the government response, which I hear started on day one, is more incompetent than the Katrina response. Most Gulf residents believe the latter.

Does "O" the entertainer even realize how horrible his lack of competence looks day after day..after day...certainly no imagination in that...

Interesting that the ABC TV story DID NOT INCLUDE the explanation their OWN website did:

"But the Coast Guard ordered the stoppage because of reasons that Jindal found frustrating. The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on board, and then it had trouble contacting the people who built the barges."

Kind of puts a different light on things, doesn't it?

No it doesn't Jim. 24 hours for safety checks while more oil is going to foul more wetlands.

If your house was on fire and your family unaccounted for, would you be OK if the fire truck was delayed because of a safety inspection? Or how about customs holding up generators for paperwork while people die in Haiti?

This situation reeks of the same political retribution so common in Chicago politics. I've seen it first hand. It's criminal that an ecosystem has to suffer for it but you can't prove a negative.

On Thursday night, the Incident Commander in Houma, Roger Laferriere, decided with the captain of the port in New Orleans to inspect the barges when they realized the ships did not have a certificate of inspection to demonstrate safety equipment on board. Thursday morning, the ships were inspected and grounded because they did not have the proper fire-fighting and life-saving equipment. There were also concerns about the stability of the barges. During the day Thursday, the problems were fixed, and the barges are back out on the water today. - The Daily Caller

24 hours?

Also from the ABC report.

"It's like this huge committee down there," Riley said, "and every decision that we try to implement, any one person on that committee has absolute veto power."

AKA, no leadership.

The good news is America has the opportunity to reverse it's mistakes every four years.

As we did less than 2 years ago.

I would agree.
