If you look at the picture, it clearly shows that the trend changed after a 'conservative' took the office in 2000! Did you have the same outrage back then? I'm just curious.

Note - I'm not supporting Dems here. Clearly, they are taking it to different level. Throw them out. But ...the other party got it all wrong too.

Yeah, and it clearly shows that it started decreasing in 2004 up until, oppps, 2007. What could have happened then, anyone, anyone, buhler. Pelosi took over. I'm not blaming pelosi, Im just blaming all the people in California who voted for her.

If I am right, Republicans were in control of both congress and Senate from 2002 to 2006. They did a pretty good job of turning surplus of few hundred billions into a deficit of few hundred billions. Way to go! I'm not blaming Republicans. I'm just blaming all the people who call those Republicans a party of 'conservatives'. That's all.

Yeah, American makes another good observation. Its a good thing we didn't have a recession right at the end of Clinton's term and a War that everyone except Dennis Kucinich voted for. I'm not blaming all those liberal war hating peace lovers in the Democratic party, Im just saying that its a good thing those things didn't happen.

if you are going to be fair you have to take 9-11 in account..but yes, I was not happy about republicans and Bush acting like dems-light when it comes to spending..and you know what..they got thrown out. It took 12 years for them to get that way, but eventually they forgot why they were voted in..
Now dems have been in charge for a year and america is trying not to vomit...
They have shown who they really are and it makes most people sick.
the good thing is that there are REAL conservatives running this time in atleast some cases, and they will throw out some of these liberals...
It took Bush 6 years to lose seats, Obama is going to lose record numbers in 2

I'm sure Democratic Party will use the same 'Republican talking-points to "justify" their spending. Similar to '9/11' and 'war', Obama inherited one of the worst economic crisis and 'two wars'. I'm just saying...

The really funny thing is that now some democrats are even talking about tax cuts, or at least extending the Bush tax cuts. So either they are acknowledging that tax cuts might actually be good, or acknowledging that Bush actually cut taxes for more than just the rich, or they now have to acknowledge that all this time they were lying about one or the other of the above.

It reminds me of Iraq war and how Republicans campaigned against anyone who was questioning the true motives of the war. Remember how anybody who opposed the war was 'unpatriotic' ? Remember anybody who called for 'surge' was 'uninformed'!! Coming back to economy, it took a long time for republicans to admit that we were in a recession. Remember - how they would show the 'record profits by corporate america' to prove that there was no 'recession' at all?

Yea - politicians lie and hardly acknowledge facts...As long as there are 'ditto heads' they will continue their scam...

Details, we all know this isn't difference we have isn't about details.

Honestly, I have no desire to cram my way of life or anything down your throat. If I could get my preference it would be that you could have your individualistic freemarket low tax utopia.
My preference is that we would both get to reap what we sow.
And while my wish is sincere that you have what you want. I want nothing to do with it.
It has advanced to the stage that it is beyond argument. It runs contrary to my morals and values, my economic ideas, my ideas on society as a whole.

I could argue details like the war is now on budget and was a supplemental under Bush. That's lots of debt.
In the end though it's not about the details. It's about fundamental differences.
People have often told me that if you don't like it you should leave. Well if I could I would. That is how much I DONT want to fight with you.
Unfortunately other countries have immigration policies too. To get beyond the regulations and paperwork let alone the expense of such a move is beyond a person of my means.
I understand the fundamental difference in a way of life is something you feel too.
Here's where the rubber meets the road.
For fundamental reasons we are unalterably opposed, morally and otherwise. Yet we are stuck here with each other.
What the hell are we going to do!

With Libs, its never about details, just about what makes you feel warm and fuzzy.

Really, i was responding to Jim's statement that "its not about the details". You see, what is idiotic is that liberals are the ones who say details don't matter. I haven't heard any conservatives say "lets opress non-whites".

Oh yeah. When is Obama going to heal our racial difference so I never have to hear people complaining about racial differences?

Not Jim, Ron....I know we all look alike.
Yes details do matter hh. However when we can't even agree on the big picture how do you ever expect us to come to peace with the details? See what I am saying?
Honestly, I'm not looking for snark here. I'm sincerely worried about this situation and I don't know how we are going to get out of it without lots of ugliness I think we would both prefer to miss.

Ron,

It is gonna be ugliness, for us or for our kids. Buck up and be a man. The libs have been telling us for years to save the environment for our kids, I wonder why they won't do the same for our economy.

I not up for bucking up for ugliness. They are trying to do the same with the economy. That is a part of my point. We see things in completely different perspectives. I sure don't want what we had for 8 years economically. You don't want "socialism". Both of us are adamant that we don't want to live under each others system. Rubber, road.
I was hoping to come here and get some thoughts that might expand everybodys thinking but if the best you have is buck up for ugliness, like you are actually looking forward to it...well, you have nothing at all to offer that I want. The same problem I have with conservatism in general. You just proved it in spades again.
