The American People: Getting it right since 1994 (mostly)

A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of 609 adults taken September 5-6 shows:

Blame Game --
13% said George W. Bush is "most responsible for the problems in New Orleans after the hurricane"
18% said "federal agencies"
25% said "state and local officials"
38% said "no one is to blame"
6% had no opinion. --
29% said that "top officials in the federal agencies responsible for handling emergencies should be fired"
63% said they should not
8% had no opinion.

No matter how hard the media and the left tries to nail Bush on everything, the American people see right through it.

"No one is to blame" is the number one answer...I can live with that, because this is not the time to place blame on anyone.....this is the time to get things done...luckily Bush understands that.

"local officials" get the most blame, because they are the first responders and deserve the most blame.

Most said no one should be fired from local government...correct.

Looks like some"U.W." can't talk in the reasonable uninformed whiner drivel that we have come to expect. Thanks, GAME,for not getting any intelligent readers annoyed. Remember, a lot less competent people are around now then were part of 1994 responses.

The only thing I disagree with is the last few words....where it is insinuated that the LA (local officials) should not be fired. If you asked local Mississippi Coast residents about the problems with lack of emergency preparedness, (and general crime in New Orleans, even PRIOR to the flood), most would tell you the LA gov officials need to be ousted. PS: Gunfire was a common occurrence in the downtown New Orleans area, especially around Charity Hospital, LONG before the flood. I personally know several medical professionals, who would occasinally accept extra shifts at Charity Hospital in return for large sums of money. That's the only way they could ever get enough help....as these medical professionals will tell you.....they were routinely fired on, subjected to gunfire, walking from the hospital parking garage to the hospital entrance. AND THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AND YEARS. Some can even tell you about their friends and relatives, all medical professionals, who were killed by gunfire (YEARS AGO, AND ONGOING RIGHT UP TO BEFORE THE FLOOD) enroute to work at Charity Hospital. If people around the country only knew what a real mess that city has been in for years. My personal knowledge of this has been since 1994, it is now 11 years later. Time to shake up the LA government, yep.
