Behavior of New Orleans residents.
You will not hear this story anywhere else….at least not in the main stream media.
Just think….your home is destroyed, maybe you almost die…people open up their hearts and their wallets to help you. How would you act?
Say you are given free room and board at the Wisconsin State Fair Thommy Thompson Youth dorm….do you:
- Make drug deals constantly (how did you get drugs?)
- snort cocaine in the storage room
- take 4 jackets that were supplied for all the residents for free.
- rip the exit signs off the ceiling
- rip the thermostats off the walls
- then complain it is too hot
- demand free food 24 hours a day
- live on the north side, get a fake Louisiana ID, and try and get more free stuff from the government (wow, how did these people get ID’s Governor Doyle???)
Honestly, is this how you would act? I’m not even going to get into the reasons these people are acting this way. Maybe that is what you can try and comment on. The sympathy level is pretty much down to 0 for these people.
Also, the people of Stoughton, WI had a similar situation happen to them awhile back. A Tornado came through and pretty much destroyed the entire town. I didn’t hear stories in the paper where the people of Stoughton started looting. They didn’t complain that the government didn’t do enough to help them. They came together, knew that they had a job to do, and did it.
Also, I don’t think they got tickets to a Packer game for free either….like the New Orleans folk are getting this weekend.
How fair is that?

You mean this isn't normal????? I just retired after 31 years with the P.O.; I saw this everyday. If someone sprains an ankle, they might sit on their butt for 20 years and get paid the same as the few that haven't tried to achieve this goal. Plus try to get cash settlements, plus fall off a chair while supposedly hurt, to repeat the cycle.

your right roxy...the sad thing is that these actions are expected, and the expectations are always surpassed.
I wish some people would start proving us wrong.
We need to try to remember that the actions of a few are not representative of the whole.
I still insist that those who steal and cheat are very much in the minority. The only reson we hear so much about them is because what they do is out of the norm. The regular law abiding folks are doing nothing newsworthy, just trying to live and survive through all this.
They all deserve prayer.

And that is just a fraction of the misadventures that are going on at a place where people are trying to help their fellow man...
So are you going to just write to feel superior to these people or are you going to say how do we deal with this element? Can they be changed? If not what do we do with them? If they can be changed, how do we do it. Would one idea be eliminate all welfare? Does that solve the problem or make it worse?
I really cannot believe this Mark fellow. Is he that incredibly naive for real? Good Lord Mark, wise up. Here's a clue: Even the blacks on the MS Coast are afraid of the New Orleans blacks. You need to accept the reality that minority populations in certain areas, don't have the same morals that the majority of Americans do. Check out the stats about the number of criminals living in the areas that had the most flood damage. Mark, violent criminal behavior IS THE NORM for those areas of New Orleans. They don't follow the same rules most of us do because THEIR NORMS are different.

Ron, deal with the behavior, these people have been getting hand outs and gov help for years. For years the gov makes excuses for them, gives them more and more. And the end result of all that giving is ungrateful, selfish, inconsiderate behavior. Here's a little something to consider:

What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?

Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus.

You sound just like the Democrat, Ron. By the time you are finished 'exploring' the situation, you AND your family has been repeatedly stabbed. Keep in mind that there are many law abiding families in this country tired of making excuses for others bad behavior. We want a country where it is safe to raise our families. Yours has already been killed, you were too busy wondering. Don't let that happen to the rest of our families.
Here's a little excerpt from an article in the SunHerald titled "Shelter Shuffle Breaks Up Group", by Scott Canon. Notice the difference in the MS shelter behaviors from the N.O. shelter residents behaviors! All those generous hand outs hasn't helped N.O. in the past, and isn't improving their attitudes now either.
Pat Young, a Gulfport police officer who stood watch at Harrison Central, said he marveled at how people lived and worked together under such strain.
They split up chores such as cleaning the bathrooms and fixing meals. Red Cross volunteers occupied children with finger painting and chalk drawing. Adults sat outside smoking and laughing well into the night.
When word came the shelter was closing, Young said the school's post-storm residents grieved the loss of the new home they'd made and worried whether they would end up without shelter. The officer said those fears eased slightly when Red Cross volunteers in the shelter made clear that space would be made available in new shelters.
"It was hard, but everybody pitched in here," Young said. "They have to move now, but it's a shame to break up this group."

The left has created these people!!!
Welfare, food stamps, handouts, the blame game, the race card...all this has created generation after generation of people who have no ability to take care of themselves....just people looking to see how they can get the most out of doing the least.
then they have people advocating for them, telling them they have not been given enough...it is a way of life now.
See, the left really believes these people are incapable of taking care of themselves, and by this point, you are probably right.

Unfortunately, the"U.W.'s" such as the buffoon whining here calls the facts of the matter hate rather than looking at what is going on at the Thompson Center each day. I'm going to check out what is broken or stolen or scammed today myself, rather than not see it reported or talked about on the news tomorrow.If it was only the action of a few Red Cross security would have more than enough volunteers to handle the respectful, thankful people there instead of calling for help.

the problem is so big that is seems impossible to fix...I know that things have to work slowly...these kids have been brought up their whole lives believing that "the man" is out to get them...that all white people hate them, that no matter what they do, they will be nothing.....so they do nothing...
I have taken many classes were people try and figure out how to fix it...my answer in the previous post is the most simple answer I have..I wish it could be that simple.

JUST THE BEGINNING
You heard about those New Orleans sex offenders who fled with the rest of the evacuees from New Orleans. It seems that they have fled to shelters and new communities around the Southeast and Southwest, and aren't bothering to register in their new locales as sex offenders. OK .. here's incident number one. At least its the first incident I've heard about. It happened in Ft. Worth, Texas. There was an attempted abduction in Ft. Worth of a 14-year-old girl. A man walked up behind her, grabbed her and said "you're coming with me." She started screaming and kicking ... managed to get away and ran to her apartment where she called 911. When the police arrived they found Glen Eric Holloway still wandering around the apartment complex looking for the girl. He was arrested ... and sure enough, he is an evacuee from New Orleans. Now Holloway wasn't a registered sex offender ... but there are 4,500 evacuees who were .. and nobody seems to know where they were. Ft. Worth took Eric Holloway, a worthless piece of dog squeeze, in and provided him with free temporary housing. This is how he rewards the people of Ft. Worth. Remember, no good deed goes unpunished. New Orleans had one of the highest crime rates in the nation .. and the highest murder rates. Just because these violent predators live in other jurisdictions now doesn't mean they've suddenly become law-abiding citizens. They will just look at their new communities as a fresh hunting ground for victims.

Ron: The message to you within my post "The Test", was that there are so many people that have been taking handouts from the working taxpayers in this country, that eventually these unmotivated freeloaders, are going to ruin our tax base, and ALL of us will be forced into a socialist environment. The gov has been given chance after to chance to come up with 'new and improved' ways to try and motivate these beggars. Every 'new and improved' program the gov has implemented has only resulted in more abuse of these programs and essentially no progress toward their independence. The underlying message to you was that by the time you get done theorizing more and more 'new and improved' ways to better these unmotivated people, our freedoms will be completely destroyed. Just like in the shootings examples of the test, the Democrat hesitated to save his family from being stabbed, because he wanted to talk about different ways he might take care of the situation, so your liberal attitude of lets think of more 'new and improved' ways to get these people out of their poverty, will result in the rest of us losing our freedoms. By the time we get done exploring and exploring, and exploring our options, ad nauseum, it will be too damn late for the rest of us. These same unmotivated poor people are the same ones that are completely sexually irresponsible, multiplying like rabbits, and weighing our health care systems down with mentally and physically handicapped babies (born this way because of drugs, alcohol, and sexually transmitted diseases). They don't even take care of these handicapped children, they are put in foster homes (I know how much the gov pays for each of these 'special needs' kids...LOTS of $$$.) I know several nurses who have quit their jobs to stay at home, taking care of these 'special needs' kids. You can earn a 6 figure income by taking care of three of them. Plus, the gov even pays for your respite care when you need a break from watching the kids.
The bottom line is our gov will go under because these people don't want to do anything responsible....the facts from all the other 'new and improved' humane handouts are in. These people will not be responsible until you force them to. If they are hungry....better get a job. Don't like living under the bridge? Better get a job. If they get fired at their job because they won't work, and threaten that the NAACP will get you for racism if you make me work? So sorry, racism doesn't have a thing to do with that person being a lazy SOS that sleeps in the hospital laundry room at night (one example of many). Better work, so you don't get fired if you want to get and sleep in a cozy bed. Period. The Buck stops here.
The rest of us, and our ancestors, (what you call violent, mean shooters) have worked hard to build this country up. We don't appreciate lazy, excuse making people anymore. Chance after chance after chance with more and more 'new and improved' ways to hand out something to help these folks has failed. MAKE them stand on their own 2 feet. Guaranteed results. It may be painful at first, just like it is painful for a parent to insist an adult child stand on their own 2 feet, but JUST SAY NO.....That is what will work.
