House drops ANWR drilling

I hope everyone understands how ridiculous this is. We are not going to drill for oil in the middle of nowhere. Why?

Do you people understand that if we thought like this early in our nations history that we would definitely not be the greatest and most powerful country in the world. It is because we are so strong that we are able to weaken ourselves with all these liberal actions. Well, all this liberalism is taking its toll and eventually we are not going to be able to support it anymore.

This situation: We want to stop shipping in all our oil from other places.
Solution: We bought Alaska partially so we could get the OIL out of it. But now because a few environmentalist wackos don't want to upset a few animals, we can not get that oil. Do you understand that the people who actually live there want to drill. Once again, liberals think they know what is best for everyone else. The people that live in Alaska are obviously to stupid to know what is best for them.

I want every liberal who does not want to build more oil refineries or drill for oil to stop using all forms of energy. I'm serious. You hate America trying to get energy so bad, go live with the birds and the animals that you love so much....stop being hypocrites and stop weakening this country...

Another thing, why are you not protesting Canada drilling in the same part of the world? They are drilling a few hundred miles away, and shipping the oil to us. This just shows the hypocrisy and ridiculousness of the whole argument.

So liberals AND moderate republicans...stick to weakening this country some other way for right now...like free health care and public schools for illegal immigrants, or more welfare, or higher taxes, or more regulations on business, or just all become trial lawyers and sue everyone....

I guess no liberal will be able to respond, since you hate energy so much, you can't use a computer, so I guess only conservatives can respond...oh well.

Haaay, Gameboy, How's we conservtivs sposta uze a cumpyooter if'n we is so stoopid an' ignerent as to uv votid fer Bush? Reckon me that!? (Ptoo! Spittin' my chaw!)

ANWR oil, yes. Nuclear power, yes. Doubly unpopular.

The Left has no substantive content. They rely on circus-style protestations and emotional projections.

The intelligence level on that one is off the charts...way to represent how well liberals can debate steve.

I don't understand how anyone can want to keep the U.S. tied to the Middle East and Venezuela for oil.

We should be drilling in Alaska, Texas, Oklahoma, off-shore, and anywhere we can find it.......And we should be building refineries all over the place.

Our oil supply for our National Defense and our Economy should not be dependant on the goodwill of those who hate us........It's national suicide.

I understand why Democrats vote against it (they want to see the U.S. suffer so they can ride and save the day by voting in drilling themselves), but why on Earth do Republicans vote against it?

Not just that, but the failure to drill in America keeps prices up (gas, oil, plastics, etc), which is nothing but a backhanded tax on the economy.......Another way for the Dems to bitch about the economy and how the poor are being screwed. --> So, another reason why the Dems want to stop drilling. They can hurt the people, who will have no idea where the hurt is coming from, and can blame the Republicans for being in power

LOOK AT PICTURES OF ANWAR! It more closely resembles the Moon than any pristine landscape.....And we're only looking to drill on a small portion of the overall reserve.

Plus, the Eskimos living there are begging to drill so they can improve their economy.......But Democrats and Rhino's want to stick it to them, and everyone else to save this pathetic swath of land.

Like I said, I understand why Democrats want to see the country tank (It's good for them), but I don't understand why any Republican would vote against this.

pero...

yes, this is like another tax on the poor...gas prices are up because of our inability to do anything with energy...

so the left who says they help the poor and little guy are giving it to them again...

and you are also right, since things might get worse because of votes like these, the libs can say it is the rep. fault because they are in power...

More offshore and ANWAR drilling are inevitable. There's nothing that libs can do to stop it. Americans will be screaming to drill Ted Kennedy's ass, metaphorically speaking, to get cheaper gas.

Sooner rather than later.

I think it is sad that Republicans can't get this passed when they have all the power...
