What do you think the punishment should be for an action like this?
If someone has HIV and rapes, or even has sex with someone, what should they be charged with? In the HIV case I say attempted murder....
But you can extend that to any STD......Should it be a crime to have sex with someone without telling them you have an STD?
I just got done teaching about this topic in school, the kids kept asking that question. "Can you be in trouble, or can you sue someone if they give you an STD without telling you first?" I told them I thought Michael Vick lost a case, but I'm really not possitive.

Lets just lock up all the TB people into sanitariums again, too. Better yet....I think we should barricade someone in their house when they get the flu. You dont want them out in the 'healthy' public where they can infect us with their germs. Wait, wait, wait, I got one. How about putting a little device on everybody so we can just tell what miasma they are spreading.
Disease is a fact of life; get used to it already. If its too much to deal with that reality, avoid all such possibilities of cantagion ON YOUR OWN TIME, or just kill yourself now.
On that note, I think it is a crime, already, to willingly expose a minor to harm of any kind. I would have to say spreading a sexually transmitted disease, or potentially doing so, would fall under that heading.
So you don't think that knowingly giving someone something that will kill them is not a crime?
Its all that personal responsibility you like to talk about. If you dont want crypto, dont drink out of the tap. If you dont want e coli, dont eat at a restaurant. If you dont want an STD, dont fuck. If you dont want the flu, dont go to public places. Do you realize that more people die every year from the flu, than all STD's combined????
On your rape deal, I am never going to catch anything cuz I am either going to kill you or you are going to have to kill me. Either way, I dont catch anything.
"Do you realize that more people die every year from the flu, than all STD's combined?"
Addendum: Thats for North America
Rhyno, you go to far...I could say "Never go outside so you don't get shot" There are laws to stop behavior that harms society...yes, there are many other behaviors that harm society that are legal...I think this is one behavior that is in the gray area...people have sex, act like whores, and get STD's, I understand that you their own fault...but what about the person who is giving an STD that can not be cured like HIV, herpes or warts...it seems like that person committed a crime because they harmed another human on purpose
I do believe that there has been a couple of cases tried regarding similar scenarios which did not involve rape though.
I seem to remember 2 convictions, one for manslaughter and one for murder.
Both of which involved someone who knew they were HIV positive, and failed to tell partners. In one case there was multiple partners, and it appeared that the suspect had been purposely spreading the virus, to as many as he could, versus simply not telling one partner.
It is a crime and should be a crime to knowingly expose others to fatal incurable diseases.
Rhyno:
They do keep people with active TB locked up until they have an inactive status. Just let them try and get out of the hospital before they no longer can spread the disease. Can't be done.
HIV is growing faster in the black US population than any other US population.
Rhyno:
You've taken this personal responsibility issue and twisted it.
The person with the responsibility is the person who KNOWS they have a fatal disease that could cause another's death, by blood or body fluid contact with them. People who have tested positive for HIV receive extensive specific counseling about this...and they are informed of their potential to cause deaths to others through sexual activities.
If the person then recklessly puts others at risk...that is even worse than drunk driving.
Most at risk group for HIV...black women 24-35
