This is an old story, but I only read about it today:
A 13-year-old Mont Pleasant Middle School student who sued Schenectady school officials for the right to wear a red, white and blue necklace can move her case forward.
U.S. District Judge Lawrence Kahn ruled Tuesday that constitutional issues in the case should be further explored and addressed later, perhaps at trial.
The student, Raven Furbert, filed the civil rights violation claim in U.S. District Court in February 2005, after school officials banned her from wearing a necklace she made to honor soldiers serving overseas, such as her uncle and three other relatives.
School officials had asked for the case to be dismissed, saying the neck wear violated rules on potential gang-related items.
Can someone tell me what the reasoning would be for sending the girl home? I know some of you don't think everything has to do with politics, and you would be wrong....I'll prove it again.
People on the Right would allow the girl to support her country because they believe in the US as the greatest country in the world.
The people on the Left are offended by people supporting their country because America is a racist, homophobic, war-mongering corporate run hell that needs to be changed and become one with the world community. Plus, anything that offends anyone should be illegal....except things that offend conservatives.

This statement is a huge pile of warm horse manure. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the girl, the school, the beads or anything or anyone involved in this situation. (Or reality for that matter.) This situation is simply being used by you as an excuse to smear the "Left."
I'll be the first to agree that "zero tolerance" policies can often be stupid and provide an excuse for school officials to be lazy when it comes to using judgement. I've seen zero tolerance in action, and I don't like it when it allows for no judgement calls.
Kids are not allowed to wear these colors in our district either because of gangs. I don't like it. It think it's stupid. But is has nothing to do with patriotism or lack thereof.
To suggest that it is is bullshit.

Probably because you know your side really does hate America...maybe I'll have a feature where I put quotes every time a Lefty bashes America...there is plenty of proof...the only reason it is not said more is because liberals do not want the secret out, and they yell very loud to stop it from being said
And maybe I'll reply to each with an example of a "conservative" saying something off the wall (Anything Coulter says or writes will be target rich) and saying that that is a typical conservative.
If you are simply trying to bait me by this crap about "your side really does hate America", fine. It becomes quickly tedious in its inanity, and I have better things to read.
But then you are probably not serious. Either way, it's simply a lie.
