Giuliani tops poll of most popular US politicians

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is the most popular politician in the United States, according to a national poll this week testing support for potential candidates in the 2008 presidential race.

The survey of some 1,900 voters by the Quinnipiac Polling Institute asked respondents to rate several nationally known politicians on a scale from 0 to 100, with higher numbers reflecting higher regard.

Giuliani topped the list, with an average score of 63.5 percent, followed by Democratic Senator Barack Obama, seen as one of his party's rising stars. Obama scored 59.9.

In third place was maverick veteran Republican US Senator John McCain at 59.7, followed by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice with a score of 57.1.

Former US President Bill Clinton rounded out the top five with a score of 56.1 in the poll by the Hamden Connecticut-based political institute.

His wife, US Senator Hillary Clinton, seen as the Democrats' top bet to run for the White House in 2008, came in eighth place, with a score of 50.4.

Two points
1. Notice that three of the top four most popular politicians are Republican
2. What has the highest Democrat done to be popular? What important legislation has he passed? His biggest accomplishment is being black.

Obama may be black, but he doesnt talk or act black. Conservatives would do well to understand him, instead of getting defensive and rallying against him because of his color.

I asked what has he done besides being black? Your answer did not contain this information...

See Rice and Powell have done things, Osama Bama (as Kennedy likes to call him), as far as I know, has not passed any significant bills...I mean, not as significant as that campaign finance bill from Feingold and McCain

"and I ask you [Miss Rice] if you recall the title of the [August 6th] presidential daily brief?"

What exactly has Condi Rice accomplished besides being black and conservative? What important legislation has she written, passed? What important policy has she developed and promoted? What is this love affair Republics have with this arguably most incompetent National Security Advisor in US history?

Though I'm guessing Senator Allen will win the nomination, President Giuliani would make our terrorist enemies extra-cripsy, and that's a comforting thought.

jim...you didn't answer the question either...

Your question has no point. You ask what Obama has done that he is the second most respected politician in the country. I turn it around and ask you what Rice has done.

People respect politicians for a variety of reasons. Maybe it's because Obama hasn't had time to do anything studid or corrupt. I don't know.

Predident Clinton, the most hated (by Repubics) politician of all time is only 7.4 points behind Rudy and 1 point behind Condi. What does that say to you?
