Dem's, shut up about gas prices

I'll let Ann do the talking, that is her job, and she does it well....and try and dispute what she said for once liberals and don't resort to name calling this time...

I would be more interested in what the Democrats had to say about high gas prices if these were not the same people who refused to let us drill for oil in Alaska, imposed massive restrictions on building new refineries, and who shut down the development of nuclear power in this country decades ago.

But it's too much having to watch Democrats wail about the awful calamity to poor working families of having to pay high gas prices.

Imposing punitive taxation on gasoline to force people to ride bicycles has been one of the left's main policy goals for years.

For decades Democrats have been trying to raise the price of gasoline so that the working class will stop their infernal car-driving and start riding on buses where they belong, while liberals ride in Gulfstream jets.

The last time the Democrats controlled the House, the Senate and the presidency was in 1993. Immediately after trying to put gays in the military and socialize all health care, Clinton's next order of business was to propose an energy tax on all fuels, including a 26-cent tax on gas. I think the bill was called "putting people first in line at the bus station."

Democrats in Congress promptly introduced an "energy bill" that would put an additional 25-cent-a-gallon tax on gasoline to stop "global warming," an atmospheric phenomenon supposedly aggravated by frivolous human activities such as commerce, travel and food production. This is the Democratic Party. That's their program.

How many times do Democrats have to tell us they want to raise the price of gas for the average American before the average American believes them? Is it more or less than the number of times Democrats tell us they want to surrender in the war on terrorism?

The Democrats' only objection to current gas prices is that the federal government's cut is a mere 18.4 cents a gallon. States like New York get another 44 cents per gallon in taxes. The Democratic brain processes the fact that "big oil companies" get nearly 9 cents a gallon and thinks: WE SHOULD HAVE ALL THAT MONEY!

When the free market does the exact thing liberals have been itching to do through taxation, they pretend to be appalled by high gas prices, hoping the public will forget that high gas prices are part of their agenda.

Checkmate. That's gold.

I freely admit that Democrats are trying to take political advantage of the situation.

The Republics would never try to take political advantage of any situation because Republics are so righteous.

And I make no apologies whatsoever for Democrats who want to reduce the demand for oil. That's an easy one, because first, there is a limited supply of oil, there is a growing competition for that limited supply, we rely on supply from an unstable region of the world, and the continuing and growing use of fossil fuels will have serious consequences for our children and grandchildren.

But that's OK. It's all about you and now. God forbid you should have to use public transporation. God forbid you should have to choose not to buy and drive low mileage vehicles. God forbid you should have to make any choices that would require some kind of sacrifice by you now so that your children and grandchildren will have as good if not a better earth and life.

No, what's really important is whether gays are in the military (they have been since the Roman legions) or whether someone sings the national anthem in Spanish.

Jim...showing how poorly his liberal mind works...

A story about Democrats and high gas prices turns into comments about gays in the military...simply stunning...

So, Jim admits that Democrats drive up the cost of gas on purpose to lower consumption...lets see Howard Dean out on the stump with that one...why wasn't he on the talk shows today saying that?

Dems believe and act one way...and try and look a different way to the American people...Jim has just admitted that...

So they are two faced hypocrites...get some balls Dem's...you want to have super high gas prices, then admit it.

Don't pretend you are mad at gas prices to make Bush look bad...how anyone could EVER vote for you is amazing...

oh, and the fact we have to rely on an unstable part of the world for oil is your sides fault too...no drilling, no refineries, no nuclear power...your the problem

I am sure that Cheney's creation of an energy policy with the heads of the major energy leaders had nothing to do with the current situation. Especially, with the record profits the oil companies are making.

Bingo.

again rhyno, stupid politically opportunistic statements like that show you don't understand what actually happens in the real world.

Oil companies have nothing to do with the price of a barrell of oil...

what does?
all the environmental regulations on all the different blends of gas
no way to refine all the oil we need
the perception that we are to stupid to drill our own oil
and the list goes on and on

Yes, yes you are right game. Since Cheney failed to produce his documents from that coalition, even under subpeona(yes, that breaking the law), I shouldnt intimate that such a backroom deal might have gone on.

Rhyno, you are correct;

However, I urge everyone to look at the last two posts of this thread.

man dedanna, you thinks this crap is the answer:

Opec's growing oil wealth has not stemmed the problems of high unemployment in the Middle East and abject poverty plaguing members such as Nigeria. The cartel is also conscious of the downside of high prices: that their drag on global economic growth could prompt moves to alternative energy sources, eventually lowering demand for oil.

Apparently all those riches make it better...for a few. .....So you are telling me if you are able to reduce the demand the price will more likely go down? Makes perfect sense to me. Sounds like a fine national agenda to me. So who's big enough to stand up, explain it, and make it so. ...Calling Mr. Feingold, make me proud.

I hope Mr. feingold made you proud when he aired that slanderous piece of crap on the radio...and what the hell does this even mean???

Are you going to make all the third world countries use less oil? How about China? Get a clue...proving that liberalism is the problem in the gas price crisis...

Dedanna said...

So who's willing to stand up and make it so?

I do it daily.

So do quite a few of my friends.

So do quite a few in my family.

If you don't like the price of it, refuse to spend it.

Another for-instance:

Know how plastic pollutes the environment, because it can't be burned or recycled?

Quit living the throw-away society routine. Quit buying these instant things that come in containers that you can just throw away.

If and when enough people refuse to put into the economy, that economy, in effect, goes away.

I myself do not believe this crap that we "don't have oil", and that "gas prices have to go up". I think it's the corporate whores trying to rape us.

So, I quit buying much, until they bring the prices of it down, and do what it takes to not have to buy and use but very little.

*Most* people don't do this in this day and age; the gas prices have not, for most, made them say, "I refuse to pay this."

Glad they can afford it, and have no qualms about paying for it. I do. Simple as that.

Read the link some more to Why Simpler is not better...

Read it carefully.

BTW: That post, in and of itself, is not either a conservative or liberal post. It's pretty centrist.

New idea to most, but it is a centrist one.

My wrists have had it for one night, from the carpal tunnel. Will check in again when I can. Will send more info on this gas price thing when I can as well.

Dedanna said...

Wait, one more. Seems the G.O.P. is going to give us all a whopping $100 to ease the burden of gas prices.

Yeah, right, $100 when most are spending that in a week.

Story here

They can keep it if that's all they're going to make it for, far as I'm concerned.
