WashPost Also Plays Up Rush Limbaugh "Arrested"

The Washington Post showed its liberal colors Saturday morning by running this copy in their "Inside" text box. "Rush Limbaugh Arrested: The talk radio icon surrenders on a charge of committing fraud to obtain prescription drugs." The headline for the story on the front of the Style section was also suggestive: "Rush Limbaugh Turns Himself In On Fraud Charge In Rx Drug Probe." The online link was "Limbaugh Charged With Prescription Drug Fraud," accurate but incomplete.

A casual reader of headlines could easily conclude that Limbaugh was admitting guilt, with words like "surrenders" and "turns himself in." But it was a part of a deal with no admission of guilt. The story by Peter Whoriskey noted: "The agreement is not an admission of guilt to the charge." A less inflammatory set of headlines would have said "Prosecutors, Limbaugh Strike Deal."

Clear media bias, the last sentence says it perfectly. Word selection can be powerful.

more drooling mad liberals on this one story...showing no objectivity, not fair and balanced...happy to bring down an "enemy"

When they make a deal, the addict, I mean accused, has to plead guilty to something.

he plead not guilty....thats not even a hard one, even for you

thats assinine....why would the prosecution promote a deal that results in nothing?

ok, I found it...charges were dropped, provided he follows his treatment plan, and doesnt own a firearm. If he violates the deal, in any way, the charges can be re-instated. So, he wasnt found not-guilty. He pleaded not guilty, and then charges were dropped provided he does what he is told. Kinda like getting a ticket dropped if you claim you have been good since then. "Kendall Coffey, a former U.S. attorney and Miami defense lawyer, said the agreement is a standard deal for first-time, nonviolent drug offenders. "

you got nothing on this one, why are you trying so hard?

What am I trying? You dont always have to see the enemy in everything, dude. He got the cookie-cutter slap on the wrist for a non-violent drug offender. If he werent your good old boy, I am guessing that you would be outraged that a drug abuser had his case dropped, and we would be fighting about that. :/
