The kids and the internet...

An incident in school today really made me think of how the internet has changed so many things....
The incident was: A kid or kids went to a web site and wrote nasty things about a whole bunch of people in the school...So, this is like in the old days where a note was passed around school, and a few people saw it every hour.
Now, every single person in the school can see it, print it, email it, EVERYONE can spread rumors in minutes.
So now the whole school is ready to explode, maybe it will this afternoon.
Just think about all the stories we have been reading lately about the internet and schools...
Student Faces Criminal Charges For Teacher Jokes
MySpace 'Poser' Arrested For Attempted Sexual Battery
MySpace prank puts high school senior in jail

So, can or should anything be done. It seems that things are getting serious enough to atleast think about how to make things safer. Or, are things being blown way out of proportion.

I dont see how the schools or anyone besides the childs parents have any right to dictate what they can say, outside of school. Limit their access to it in school(already have that), and take notice if threats of some sort are made public. Just another example ofpoliticians trying to control shit they have no right to.

But do you see this as a safety problem in school?
It seems to be getting worse, more rumors spread, ect...

No. Its probably a sign of a change in times(not necessarily better or worse) that we would have had a solution for people who couldnt be reasoned with.
