Wisconsin State Fair Day 3: Saturday August 5th

Went out into the Fair today:
Spent about 3 and a half hours with my wife looking at pigs being born, drinking Herb Kohl Milk, looking at horses, pigs, sheep (my favorite), ect...
We also had to eat all the favorites at the fair: baked potato, corn dog, roasted corn, pita, and cheese curds.

MillerLite Grandstand Review:
Lead man for Shinedown spoke of how the record industry has already had the funeral for rock music, declaring it dead a few years ago. Well, Rock was very much alive for atleast 5,000 at the Wisconsin State Fair Saturday Night.

The show started off on life support with Marashino and Crossfade. They had high energy, loud, screaming songs....and not many seemed to care. Crossfade sang one song the crowd seemed to get into, but otherwise things were pretty quiet for such a hard rock concert.

When Shinedown took the stage things changed. On a side-note, it is interesting to think about the fact that there are very few musical acts played on top 40 or any current music radio that includes actual instruments anymore, so the fact that there was a band at the Fair with current songs and instruments was refreshing...hopefully Rock is not dead.

Shinedown's show was well done, playing all the hits I know of:
Save Me
I Dare You (dedicated to our armed forces in the Middle East)
Simple Man
45

Things did get a bit preachy and talkative...not about politics, mostly about self esteem issues. I am guessing these guys were no with the "in" crowd in school. Well, therapy can happen in many different forms. I was saddened to see a nice young girl get hit in the mouth with a chair that some pot head was throwing around. Other than that, the crowd was good, as was Shinedown.

Preview for Sunday, August 6th At the Miller Lite Main Stage

Raven-Symone with Little J 2pm
This show might end up being sold out. I would have never thought that when I saw the list...so if you have any young kids and you want to see Raven-get to the fair early and get your tickets.

Other highlights:
Cedar Crest Ice Cream Childrens Day
Kids from Wisconsin 1:30 and 2:45
Circus and Racing pigs throughout the day
Wrist Wrestling Competition 1pm
Bad Medicine 7 to 10 pm

Pot heads wouldnt have had the desire to throw a chair..more likely a drunk.

well, it was in the area where they tried to bust some guys for smoking pot...they threw their cigs as they go t there and got rid of ths stash...but sure, it could have been drunks...but not really, most of the crowd was under 21 and couldn't drink...

Don't be too sure. You wouldn't believe how many under 21 kids were busted for possessing, and drinking alcohol at Ozzfest in Albuquerque this year.
