Wisconsin State Fair Day 9: Friday August 11th

Review of grandstand show:
Due to the new security measures at the airports, Collective Soul arrived in Milwaukee at 715. Reminder: The show was scheduled for 8 and their was no opening act. Backstage we were very worried that the show would not start til 830 or even 9. Well, at 805 the music played for around 6000 fans of 90's rock. I knew most of the songs, so it was entertaining for me. They didn't seem to have the showmanship that some of the older bands displayed earlier in the fair.
I had to worry about 60 people having back stage passes, so maybe I missed some of that showmanship. I did catch that the band must like "The Ballad of Ricky Bobby"...they said it was wierd that they were playing on a race track...then he thanked the 8 pound 3 oz baby Jesus for all the fans that came to the show. It's funny if you like the movie. Set list included: The World I know, Shine, Heavy, December, Heaven let you light shine down, and Where the River Flows. Solid hour and a half show, thought the crowd would be bigger, but there were few problems and the crowd had a good time.

The whole crew went out into the fair after the show and had a great time at Benno's. Cherry Pie was playing within an ear shot, and that added to the entertainment. Not very much time left, need to get in as much more fair as I can.

A good time was had. Collective Soul was a good show, and drinks were welcome hanging out with game, scorp and the rest of the Milwaukee crew. Looking forward to next weekend.
