11 point plan to keep the House

I have been saying all along that there are plenty of issues that a vast majority of Americans agree with the Right's position.
Newt has an 11 point plan, many of the points have been made on this blog already:

Make English the Official Language of Government
The Rasmussen poll reported that support for English as the official language was 85%. The Zogby poll had it at 84%. Why do Republican leaders find it so hard to side with more than four out of every five Americans?

Control the Borders

Keep God in the Pledge
Congress should take two steps to preserve the right to say "one nation under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, a right which is supported by 91% of all Americans.

Require a Voter ID Card
The American people overwhelmingly support (85% in one poll) having a voter id card so we can be sure only legal citizens are voting.

Repeal the Death Tax, for Good.
Let liberals explain why they oppose something that more than 70% of the country favors.

Restore Property Rights.
Achieve Sustainable Energy Independence.
Control Spending and Balance the Budget.
Tie Education Funding to Teacher Accountability
Defend America From the Irreconcilable Wing of Islam.
Focus on Iran and North Korea.

Many of these show how out of touch the Left is, they are opposed by over 70%-91% on these issues...

English? Non-issue. All government business is conducted in English. Have you seen a copy of the 9/11 report in Spanish?

Control the borders? NOBODY argues against this. Republics haven't gotten anything done in 4 years.

Keep God in the pledge? A matter for the Supreme Court.

Voter ID? It's a state matter. Fix it in your state.

Estate Tax? 99.999% of this country is unaffected by the Estate Tax. Most people don't understand that and if they did, they wouldn't care about repealing it.

Restore property rights? Who's against that?

Energy independence? The Democrats have been campaigning on this for years. Unfortunately, they are not in power.

Teacher accountability? Local matter. The federal government should provide funds on a per student basis and audit spending to make sure it is spent properly. The rest is local.

Defend America? Basic tenet of the Democratic party.

Focus on Iran and North Korea? Duh! Too bad we've been focusing on Iraq for some odd reason for the last 5 years.

Eh, I cant really add much. I dont know why the pledge is an issue. Keep it as it has been for 50 years, or change it back to its original form. Does it really matter?

Maybe you weren't paying attention, Jim. These are issues on which Newt feels the GOP should focus. That the Dems may be "for" any of them isn't the point. But if the GOP stays on these issues, describing how they'd attack them, that would certainly separate them from the Dems, who have poor or no positions. Also, focussing on issues that already have major public support only makes sense, even for the Dems, if they had any sense.

Nice touch, Rhyno.

It should also be, in the interest of Freedom of Worship, also if we should keep "God" in the pledge for those who are atheist, or who believe in more than one "god". This is an issue similar to the Separation of Church and State one, IMHO.

marshall is 100% correct, but his comment is just common sense, which seems to be lacking here...

If Republicans attempt to make English the official language you would gain a lot of votes from all the people sick of seeing us turn into Mexico North

Borders, right has plans in congress, always blocked by liberals...and since almost every single American is with the Right on this issue, they should make sure everyone knows which side is against tough border security

It is Dem's who block voter ID's, most Americans are for it, make sure everyone knows that too..

If the Right would just keep reminding people which party is on the wrong side of issues almost everyone agree's on, they would be fine
