Lessons of 9-11

It seems we have already forgotten the lessons of 9-11.
Terrorists attack us on our soil, and because of what was done to our intelligence agencies, we didn't know about it.
Make sure you watch those videos, watch them a few times if you have to, remember how you felt that day.
Let us hope that nothing like that ever happens again, and that we have leaders who are willing to do everything possible to protect us....
There is evil in the world, and unlike what some in this country think, the USA is not that evil...
We do not create it, we need to protect ourselves from it...
We were asleep while they planned and carried out our attack, yet there are plenty in this country who obviously learned nothing, who fight our govt as it tries to keep this from happening again...
Support those who want to keep us safe, keep the type of people who created the climate and environment necessary for 9-11 to happen from power forever...

The usa is not SUPPOSE to be that evil. To think we couldn't lower the bar that far is naivety. As a matter of fact, look at what marshall said. Just what the evil ones are saying about us.
Marshall, to think that is possible or even the ideal policy to win the struggle is narrow minded to say the least. I so much want to respect you and game but your narrow self serving statements make it so hard.

That being said,Ron,we really do need to do whatever is possible to not allow this blatant evil to ever inflict this kind of atrocity
ever again, and,we need to support ALL means available and possible to
stay aware of the next planned attack. We are not the evil-we want to avoid another occurence of the obvious evil that stated they will
destroy us at all cost.

Rob,

I appreciate your sentiments, but I don't need to see the videos. I've seen enough to last a long time.

They declared war upon us a long time ago. We were just so busy singing "All we are saying, is give peace a chance" that we didn't take notice.

Ron,

I truly don't understand where you're opposed to my position here. I don't want to sit and nitpick about isolated incidents of American evil manifested here and there throughout history. But I can't believe you don't see the clear difference between us and them, unless you're too busy listening to the hate-America-first crowd. It is not, nor has it every been, the policy of this country, at least not in my lifetime, to attack civilian populations as a primary target. It is the policy of the enemy. They have stated their evil intentions toward us and our allies, and their actions thus far prove that they aren't kidding. How can you have missed this salient point? So since they HAVE stated their intentions, and the HAVE proven they're serious, and they HAVE proven that dying to get it done is just fine with them, what possible alternative to finding them and killing them first could there possibly be? Diplomacy hasn't and won't get it done. They've stated that as well. Any ideas at all? All I know for sure is that there is no guaruntee that the next attack won't take out MY wife or MY daughters or MY friends and loved ones. Personally, I don't want them to murder one more human being, even if it's one of their own murderous assholes. As to their motivations, I don't give a flying rat's ass what their motivations are at this point. My feelings for their motivations went down with the Towers.

Truth be told, as if I haven't been totally up front thus far, I hope and pray that they experience some epiphany that changes their minds about their motivations. It would be a whole lot easier if they just dropped the guns and talked. I will thank and praise God for it at that time. Until then, it might be killing enough of them that brings about that epiphany.

The idea is to have enough protection in the first place so those guys don't knock you down & kill you in the first place.

Maybe if you weren't such an asshole, they wouldn't have done that.

Or, maybe if you had not worn your wallet right out in the open at night, or went out walking alone at night where it's unsafe, or if you hadn't bad-mouthed one of their gang, none of it would have happened in the first place.

Get a grip, Marshall. There's more than one reason these things happen.

What I am saying is we have had a large amount of respect and admiration from other countries. This is because of our countrys libertys and freedoms at home and the high bar we set in world affairs. The world sees us differently now. We can't just say screw them. We need to look at ourselves and be honest with the evaluation of our actions. We need to uphold all that not only Americans but people worldwide find endearing about the U.S.

Are there other things we could do beyond killing and interfering with liberty and freedom at home to fight this battle? Showing the world how truly advanced and smart we are. Yes there are many. I have and jim and jay and rhyno and others have stated many of them on this very blog. Over and over and over again. But to adapt redline..nobody noticed because the fear induces lashing out in the most rudimentary and primitive jhaidist like way.

dedanna and ron,

You're missing the point, which is that it doesn't freakin matter if I'm and asshole or the Second Coming, if I'm loaded or dirt poor, whether I called them a motherfucker or offered my mother to them, they just want me dead. Period. End of story.

And I think you have a far too rosey opinion of what the world thought of us pre-9/11. I just read an article linked from SisterToldjah.com. It ran in the Telegraph about how the "solidarity" of our European "friends" lasted about two days after the attack. Right away, like many here, we were described as having had it coming. Bullshit. What the hell have we ever done that in any way justifies or rationally explains having three thousand civilians murdered in such a horrendous manner? Our track record has been one of aid to Muslim countries. Our actions in Bosnia saved Muslims. Nothing we've ever done equals the treachery of 9/11. If you want to talk karma, it is they who have a date with that concept.

I'm sorry. I can't recall any examples of alternatives offered on this blog. I'm too lazy to search them out beyond the last dozen threads. There are certainly things we could be doing in addition to military action, but I know there's nothing that will replace it. And to date, I've not been in any way deprived of any rights other than the right to travel to any country I want, because assholes will try to kill me. Oh yeah, sometimes I have to take my shoes off at airport security checkpoints. What have YOU lost?

Tell you what: you go over there and show the noble Arabs just how advanced we are and see how it goes over. Four Christian chuckleheads went to Iraq to show that we're not all bad guys and some of us want to be friends and understand them. One of the idiots got his ass kicked before they murdered him. THEY.DON'T.FREAKIN'.CARE!!!

The lesson is clear: cocksuckers want to kill us.

Sorry, I don't buy it. There has to be a reason they want to kill us. Killing is normally synonymous with hate. Hate springs from several different directions. There's a reason for it.

I know people who have travelled around the world with no problem. Lots of them, and they do it routinely, no problem. I'm going to be within the next year myself, with no fear whatsoever. Most incidences of what you're talking about are a lot less than what they're made out to be, and there is indeed a reason. A lot of the time we don't get the full story on how these things happen, either.

Keep searching.
