ahhhh...no one can comment on this one...
cause it makes the libs look bad, that is why...they have not gotten any talking points about this one yet from DailyKos cause that site is too busy producing ethnic slurs for Joe Lieberman
Of course there is not one iota of difference in the situations here. None whatsoever. It's exactly the same circumstances. Exactly.
cause that site is too busy producing ethnic slurs for Joe Lieberman
Who, even if this were the case, deserves them. He's not even true to his ethnicity, AFAIAC.
Please link to an ethnic slur for Joe Lieberman on DailyKos. Try to make it a diary if you can, because most people don't read the comments. I don't. Regardless, see what you can come up with.
I don't know how to make those links like you guys do...there's plenty of examples and you know it
none of you have the balls to admit that the Left is hypocritical on this one...
Plus, the criticism about the show is the same, but not the tactics taken by the party who is upset.
Don't remember Republican's threatening to take away things or lawyers wanting to sue...that is the difference between the two sides...
Have the quote to show the made up outrage right here
Pretty lame, Game. Just copy and paste the URL into your reply. We'll take care of the rest. And I read DailyKos daily and I've never seen an ethnic slur against Joe Lieberman. Never. So you need to give me an example.
One difference is that the Republics were upset about a conversation in the movie that was ficticious but not necessarily inaccurate. This movie portrays as FACT conversations that never took place which can be refuted by the very people involved.
Too nuanced for you?
I think Game may be thinking of the Huffington Post, though there is more than enough anti-semitism at the Daily Kos to go around.
The Michael Moore film was clearly an opinion piece, not a historical accounting of events. It had a point of view which was unmistakeable.
On the other hand, ABC markets PT911 as "The Official True Story". As such it should be the official true story and not include made up scenes which contradict The 9/11 Commission Report, which I believe you all have previously cited as the "official true story".
I just read your link to the article on the Huffington post and for the life of me I cannot find one phrase that could be described as anti-semitic. The only reference to Lieberman's religious ethnicity on the page you've cited is an allusion to "the left's anti-semitism" which is unsupported. If one criticizes the politics of a PERSON who happens to be a catholic, is that person anti-catholic? Of course not.
Pick a real example.
I find it interesting that you equate any criticism of the State of Israel with anti-semiticism.
Jim--
Look over at your beloved Daily Kos. The Huffington Post article just shows how deeply felt the hatred toward Lieberman really goes, which is astonishing given he is much to the left of where Hillary has positioned herself.
In fact, that you can't go to an anti-war rally without seeing a bunch of anti-Israel baloney says it all about today's socialists that masquerade as liberals.
I admit there is a difference between criticism of Israel (90% unwarranted btw), and criticism of Israel's right to exist (which often motivates the unwarranted criticism). If one does not agree that Israel has the right to exist unmolested, like most of the socialists at Kos, then you're necessarily taking an anti-semitic position, no matter how much doublethink one uses to rationalize it.
The political spectrum is more like a circle. The Democrats have moved so far to the left that they're actually on the far right now, where Charles Lindbergh was before WWII -- isolationist, protectionist, and increasingly anti-semitic. Your side has more in common with Pat Buchanan than it has with Harry Truman these days.
Game, I thought you knew this by now! My email is in my profile -- click my name on here. I'll send you a .txt file with the code for how to link (and I know you know it -- you do it every day).
jason,
I did a search on the page at the Huffington Post link you gave, and the only place the word "jew" or "jewish" is even mentioned is in the comments below the article. The article itself doesn't even raise the subject.
jim's right -- pick another one.
I do not believe that the war in Iraq is about oil. Oil is just the gravy.
There is some logic to the notion that a democratic middle east would provide stability to the region. This would contribute to a more stable and peaceful world (and a more certain supply of oil, of course). Grand goals, no doubt.
The world would be a more peaceful place if ALL weapons were destroyed and the means to build more were eliminated forever. Another grand goal.
However, invading Iraq has proved to be the wrong way to to spread democracy and promote peace. Is there a better way. Don't know, but this ain't it.
Just because a goal is laudible doesn't mean it is achievable, much less practical.
"Being against Israel because mostly Jews immigrated to the area in the last 150 years is [anti-semitic]."
Who in the hell is criticizing Israel "because mostly Jews . . ."? Never heard of anybody doing that.

Who the hell is the U.S. to force this on anyone? A democratic middle east wouldn't necessarily guarantee stability or anything else in that region. It would just be one more democratic region for the U.S. to go bomb and kill, is all. Research the chances of it being any better that way than the way it is. I'd be curious to see the results.
So they become a democratic region. So what. We've totally overturned history. Big deal. Changed cultures from what they have been for centuries upon centuries for what? So they can be like the Americans? This is a prize? Give me a break.
If I want to see America, I'll go to America.
If I want America to rule the world, then I'll jump off the edge first.
