Border-fence bill goes to President Bush

A plan directing the Secretary of Homeland Security "to achieve operational control over U.S. international land and maritime borders" by using many techniques, including "physical infrastructure enhancements to prevent unlawful border entry" has been forwarded to the president's desk.
That plan, to mandate the first $1.2 billion in construction work on a fence to prevent illegal aliens, including potential terrorists, from wantonly crossing the border from Mexico into the United States, was sent to President Bush's desk yesterday, according to a spokesman for U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo

This is great news for America...maybe not for the people who want this to be Northern Mexico, but...
For those of you who say a fence doesn't work...show me proof of that...common sense says it works...
100 percent...no
about 90 percent...yes
I'll take 90 percent over zero percent any day...
Will this get media coverage and save enough seats for the Right?
This is CLEARLY an issue the Right is Right on...Democrats look like crap to about 86 percent of the American people on this...
Now if they could just talk about raising taxes we might have something.

I also remember the days when the border patrol doing their jobs worked. We got what we put into our tax $s then.

But then, they weren't mostly hispanic then, either.

I don't recall, do you? Did the 9/11 terrorists come across the Rio Grande?

Are we building a wall along the Canadian border, too? Or do we know that no terrorists come through Canada?

Why don't we spend that money on ENFORCEMENT, beefing up the workforce who would enforce employment rules, who would check and followup on visas and green cards.

How effective was the Great Wall, the Maginot Line, or the Berlin Wall?

berlin wall was very effective...and none of those walls will be as good as this one...only someone really, really stupid would think a properly made wall would NOT work

Thanks Game for your kind sentiments. Always love your well-reasoned ad hominem attacks. So convincing.

doesn't need to be said any other way...its common sense, plain and simple

The wall, fence, what-have-you will only be as good as those monitoring it. Anyone can climb a damn wall, game.

As I said, I think it's up to B-O-R-D-E-R- -P-A-T-R-O-L to do the border-watching (it is why they call them border patrol, after all), where it should be.

If they can't do it, fire 'em and get people who will. Get them up off their lazy asses and make them do their jobs. Plain and simple.
